BOBCATS Roan l THROUGH Two TOURNAMENTS l W The Bobcats marched into the tough Southwestern District Class B Basketball Tournament, as Montgomery County Tournament Champions for the second straight year. They were determined to make a good showing. The 'Cats picked up momentum with an opening round victory over Xenia Woodrow Wilson, 61-45, and moved into the quarterfinal round. West Elkton was the op- ponent, and they proved to be much tougher this time than they were during regular season play. They staged a terrific fourth quarter rally, but we stayed on top to win 46-44. Then came the never-to-be-forgotten semifinal clash with Xenia East's talented Panthers. The game was see-saw back and forth throughout. We led by two points, but with 12 seconds remaining in the game Xenia East collected a field goal and a free throw to go ahead by one. Through 12 heart-throbbing seconds we watched the 'Cats work the ball up the floor, And to our joyful relief, lack losselyn scored the winning field goal with three seconds remaining to give us a very welcome 53-52 victory. Spurred on by this tremendous success, we came from behind midway in the third quarter to go ahead of Wayne in the All Montgomery County District Finals to win a convincing 46-37 decision. This was our first Southwestern District Basketball Championship in the history of the school. The 'Cats went into the Class B Regional Tournament at Troy full of pep, fire, and spirit. Ver- sailles, the other team from the Miami Valley, was our semifinal opponent. We rolled to a 61- 44 victory over the Tigers. Then in the Regional championship game we were stopped and convinc- ingly beaten, 62-37, by Mariemont's magnificent Warriors. We were only one game from State Tournament and three from the State Title at the time of our bowing out. This is farther than we' ve ever gone before in the bid for the state championship. Everyone felt a wonderful pride in our team. We knew our Bobcats were fighting hard and well all the way. Their efforts were not in vain. They were true champions. Larry Blnkley was a unanimous choice on the All District Team. Dave Palsgrove and lack Jos- selyn were also named to the honor squad. Larry pulled down the highest individual honor a Ran- dolph player has ever received when he was selected on the Class B All State Second Team. Congratulations team, coaches, cheerleaders. and fans for work well done! andolph Win X9 WO, fc 6012? P5 , :BE get 698 lb Q n Randolph Bobcats End Best Season
