To instruct, and to guide young people; to present a standard of in- telligence and morality for these formative years; to improve the pur- poses and the dreams of adolescence ; and to . indicate the correct way of living — these are the labors of a high school administration. Varied and often difficult duties fall to these adults as they work day after ' day in charge of 600 students. Our mental, physical, and spiritual growth are supervised by them; our activities are sponsored by them; and our privileges are granted by them. They are instructors, educators, and advisors of Randolph-Henry- — as vital to these buildings as the students themselves.

There is one member of the faculty of Randolph-Henry High School who has played an integral part in the progress of our school since its opening day. She has proved to be an understanding friend, a wise coun- sellor, and an excellent teacher of mathematics. By her selfless devotion to her work as sponsor of the Magazine Campaign throughout the years she has made possible many important contributions to our school. To repay in part our inexpressible debt to her, We, the Seniors of 1961, with deep pride, respect, and admiration, dedicate this volume of The Log to MISS MAUDE CLAY PUGH 14
