FM!-f w MR. PERCY PAISLEY To you, Mr. Paisley, we dedicate the Hilltop of l963. lt is but a small gesture in comparison with the work which you have done so untiri-ngly for the past thirty years at Randolph. Whenever someone has been needed in any department of the school, you have always been there ready and willing to help us. No job has been too large or small for you to u-ndertake. lt is you, Mr. Paisley, that we salute. Words alone cannot express the gratitude we feel for your many years of service at Randolph Central School. We therefore dedicate this book to you as a small token of our appreciation. APPRECIATIO , . -Mft . '95 Russell Young Russell Young, President of the Board of Education, has worked con- stantly for the betterment of education in our community. He has been a member of the Board of Education for fifteen years and its president for the last six years. For all of his efforts in our behalf, we are grateful. May he continue to serve for many more years in the field of education. 1 if 2? ff g E i 5 5 f E i M-1,-1ffmmAmmn,mwAa.L:a:,:sxzfm,..ff,,1s1:,:s1,M-,5aa,,egi.f,:,Qaw' rw, V - ...Q Ml H, '- K ' 5 4 ig L 22g:gg5g5,ggf:eiig.f+, Law 5,5 .,,, .W -, f f A -M ff! STUDE T GCJVER ME T The Student Council schedules all extra-cur- ricular activities. lt also runs the monitor system. The Student Court has been set up for the purpose of running it smoothly. At Christmas time, the members decorate the Christmas tree in the foyer, One program the Stu- dent Council has taken on is the Student of the Month program where two outstanding seniors are chosen each month by the faculty. As an addition this year, they added the Student of the Year program. In general the Student Council assists the school administration by coordinating and perform- ing many school functions. The Student Council is the governmental body of the school, and is run on the democratic princi- ple. There are eighteen members, who have been chosen to represent their class at all Council meet- ings. There are three representatives from the Senior and Junior classes, two from the Sophomore and Freshman classes, and one from the eighth and seventh grades plus the president of each class. The president of this organization is elected to his office by the whole student body. These elections are per- formed like our national elections. HONOR SOCIETY One ofthe high points of the school year is the Honor Society Induction Ceremony. At this time of the year, there is a noted tenseness in the entire student body. Teachers and students alike ask the ever prevalent question, Who will make it? Election to this society is a privilege of a select few. As the name de- notes, honor in Scholastic achievement is one of the qualifications. To this Scholastic honor must be added honor in Service, Leadership, and Character. The last three qualifications are considered so very important that even though a student has the highest marks, he will not be admitted to the so- ciety it he does nothing for the school or it he shows traits of character that are undesirable. Once a student is elected to this society, he is expected to uphold the ideals and so designates by saying: l pledge myself to uphold the high ideals of the National Honor So- ciety, to build a strong character in myself and others, to further the ad- vancement of scholarship, and to serve my school, my community, and my countfy in the interests of humanity. The Randolph Varsity Club was established in the spring of l960. The constitution set up at that time explains the reasons why such a club was needed in our school. The following are statements from that charter which describe the purposes of the group: l. to act as a stimulant and in- spiration in building a strong, well-rounded athletic program. 2. to occupy the leisure time of its members with worthwhile projects. 3. to set a fine example in athletics for younger boys to follow. 4. to act as a serviceable organization in the school. What has the Varsity Club done to carry out its purpose? During the years, members have sold pennants, sweatshirts, buttons, etc. with the name Randolph printed on them. By wearing such articles at a game, the student body can show their loyalty to the school and support the team members. The club in this way promotes school spirit and provides a stronger athletic program. This year a hot dog machine was purchased. lt will be used during school activities for raising money as a service to the school. All of these selling projects tend to occupy the leisure time of the members with some- thing constructive. Joining the club is a goal which younger boys may strive to reach. To do this they must earn a varsity letter and have desirable personal and scholastic qualities. At the close of each school year trophies are awarded to the most valuable player in football, wrestling, and basketball. This is another goal set by the club to encourage younger boys to become better sportsmen in our school. The Randolph Varsity Club is an organization which is ready to serve faculty and students in any way possible in order to make R.C.S. a better school system. Berg, Mike McKenna. Leader's Club was organized in l962 for the purpose of promoting school spirit and leadership in gym classes. This year it has progressed greatly. There are twenty-nine members participating from grades nine through twelve. These girls have been carefully selected in order to better our school and our community and also to promote better understanding among our neighboring schools. The members of Leader's Club hope to begin a girl's sport's program whereby the female students of Randolph Central School may participate in girl's sport's activities with other schools. So far, we have played volley-ball with schools in our area and hope to play similiar sports in the near future. We sincerely wish to create a girl's sport's program in our school because we believe it is essential. Our advisor is Miss Heron and the following girls are our officers: President .
