The memories we've had here we'll cherish As each strives to reach his own goal. This is our quest, To search for our dreams, No matter how hopeless, No matter how far, As each tries his best To live rightly and learn. Through living and planning and striving, As our future calls. And we know, if we'll only be true To our motto and goals, Our ideals will be met and fulfilled When we're far on our way. And although we are leaving these halls And our friends who have helped us through all, We'll recall with deep love and affection The years that we've spent on this hill. He has collected many old and rare pictures of Randolph and its picturesque houses. He has supplemented them with pictures of the houses as they appear today, noting what has been changed over the years. Bill wrote a biography of Thaddeus Sheldon, one of Rand- olph's prominent citizens of former years, as his term paper in Ameri- can History II. Edward Nagers Dream House As a special proieet, Ed completed his plan of at detailed six room ranch style house. H is drawing represents the completion of a semester's work in architectural drawing. Smith, Horton W., Waite Dean Wrighl, Lloyd A., Young, Theodore R. 8 Our Educationa Hentage 1812 . . IPublic schools as far back as 1812 were pmced under the sup- ervision o,f a state superintendent and elementary education was rapidly gaining ground. lF'rom this time until the mid 1940's the surrounding area was dotted with numerous one-room country schools, some of which are still standing today. IOM early recorded curriculum for this area dates back to the year 1909 Some of the required courses at this time consisted of German botany cwics Caesar and physiologyg no electives seemed to be ofered 1932 . -In January, 1932, a petition appeared carrying the names of approximately 80? of the roters in the reorganized school district. It contained a proposal for a centralized school, to be built on the Chamberlain property, and an ele- mentary school to be built on the School Street site. -On September 2, 1932, the new Rand- olph Ccntral School opened on Chamber- lain Hill: and the Randolph Register stated: This great building is a dream come true, -The shift from the straight academic courses to a more liberal program oc- curred with centralization. At the same time, a restricted choice of extracurric- ular activities was included. 1953 . . lMay, 1953, marked the beginning of Randolph's participation in the BOCES fThe Board of Coopera- tive Educational Servicesj. Today, through this program, we share with other area schools the abilities of Mrs. Thelma Harper, Visually Handicappedg Paul Miller, Speech Correction, and Larry R. Sullivan, School Psychologist. I The transition progressed, when in the late 1950's, the high school program was enriched by the in- creased emphases on higher math- amatics, science, and elementary school languages. lAfter twenty-five years of use the need for modernization appeared to be absolutely necessary to keep pace with educational trends. This was fulflled in 1957 when an elementary school was constructed, and in 1966 when an addition and alteratwns on the hig h school were completed. Some of the features of the latter include new vocational, industrial, and advanced science classrooms, in- creased gymnasium facilities a n d improved music department and caf- eterut systems.
