The griping about the food although we admit secretly it is good. The fighting in the bottleneck of the main hall to get through so as not to be late for our next class. Tests, the necessary evil, that we all hate with abandon. The week-end homework that is not done and is mourned over the following Monday. 11

But, each class is bound to the others. Almost everything we have in common. The exasperating one-row parking — if we are late, there is a two-mile hike awaiting us. The lockers that won ' t lock, or hold our coat, books and various junk so that every time we open it— out everything comes in a heap. The heart-rending experience of having to walk a country mile to a water fountain, only to find forty others have beaten us to it. 10

All is not tears and woe. Only a minute fraction consists of complaining. The rest is pleasurable, exhilarating, and often touching. The football games - all memorable in their own right. Many things make up a football game - the pep rally that afternoon, the Tigers ploughing through bone-cracking practices day after day for the glory of R.H.S. The stadium - newly built and our pride and joy. The cheerleaders leading us to heights of frenzy. The majorettes, beautiful and entertaining, but only through a summer of perfection practices. The band, an integral part of football games. The very air with its crispness that makes us want to yell. And yell we do - with joy or anger, as if by our clamor, we ourselves could attain the longed for victory. The bursting pride when we win; the dejection when we lose. Homecoming. The floats - a culmination of effort on the part of all. The parade, the people, the pride. That night, the extra try for glory, the big roaring crowd. The crowning of the chosen one, the tearful joy, the beauty of all. 12
