NEWLIN GRAY CARTER MEADOR (Not Pictured) Language Department Our English students strive to increase their knowledge by constructing interesting bulletin boards. The study of languages, whether it be English, French, or Latin, gives the student more power to learn by giving him the basic tool with which to work, —the ability to read and write. MR. JOSEPH HINES Foreign language students learn, not only to read, but also to write and speak in the language they are studying. Mathematics and Science Departments Science students prove formulas and equations by experimentation. MR. FLETCHER MR. LEO CORDER CAUSEY In the Atomic and Space Ages of today, math and science courses are becoming more closely related. Students are fast realizing that these two fields of study are the most promising for a successful career. Our new science labs aid in the process of making our students better acquainted with the fundamentals of science ex¬ perimentation. 23 MR. M. C. HOWELL Home Economics and Agriculture Departments Home Economic and Agriculture students learn skills that will be of great value to them in their future lives as homemakers and farmers. These two departments of study are perhaps the most popular, for students see that these give knowledge that will always prove practical in everyday life. The agricultural students do many things to improve our school and its appearance, including replanting the front lawn. 24 MR. JAMES MR. JAMES MR. ADDISON LINEBERRY HOWELL WALL Social Studies and Commercial Social Study students learn how to analyze the present and future by studying the past. Randieman, North Carolina Class History Just 12 short years ago the Class of 1964 entered the first grade eagerly looking forward to what the next few years would bring. The years flew by quickly and suddenly we found ourselves looking back on eight years of many happy experiences, but looking forward to the four remaining years. In 1960, we began our high school days. During our freshman year we experienced many new activities. Our sponsors, Mr. Corder, Mrs. Newlin, Mr. Pritchard, Mr. Lineberry, and Mr. Brookshire, guided us through our first year ' s activities. As we entered our sophomore year, we began to feel a little more a part of things. We were not green freshmen, but we couldn ' t classify ourselves as upper classmen either. This year our sponsors were Mr. Causey, Mr. Wall, and Miss Cox. In 1962 when we began our third year in high school, we could officially call ourselves upper classmen. One of the high points of our Junior year was our Junior play, a hillbilly entitled Headin ' for a Weddin ' , which was pre¬ sented March 29, 1963. The highlight of our Junior year was our Junior-Senior Banquet— Magic Moments. It was held at the King Cotton Hotel in Greensboro, onApril 27, 1963. Our sponsors this year, Mr. Pritchard, Mr. Howell, Mr. Corder, and Mrs. Kimble, were a tremendous help to us as they gave much of their time and energy in helping us with our years activities. The big year finally arrived, the year in which we could leave chapel first, receive class rings, take any course offered, be honored at a Junior-Senior Banquet, and receive many of the other priorities that are given to a select group of students, known as Seniors. In this, our last year at R.H.S. our cup has been full and overflowing with mem¬ orable events. There have been invitations to select, superlatives, mascots and officers to elect, an annual to publish, a play to present, graduation to plan, homework to do, and many other activities to keep us busy. On October 28, 1963, our ever-treasured class rings arrived. Our Senior play, a comedy called Just Ducky , was presented November 22, 1963. A debt of gratitude goes to our senior sponsors, Mrs. Bunting, Miss Starling, and Mr. Meador, who have helped immensely to make this, our final year, the best yet. As we look back, we owe much that we can never repay to our school. To our teachers and our principal, Mr. Coggins, may we extend a grateful Thank you. The last four years have held many new experiences, some involved much work and worry, but we will always cherish the many memories we made at Randleman High School.
