My, it looks interesting, but as you see, I'm busy with the future of my classmates. JOYCE GILMO RE Prophetess Class History is made from simple, everyday happenings that might occur in the lives of anyone. To prove that point, let us turn back the pages of time and roll back the clouds of imagination, that we may relive some of the cherished memories of past times at Randle m an High School. The fall of 1956 was a busyone for the future mein- bers of the Class of 1960. Sure that we would never be- come sufficiently oriented to such unfamiliar surroundings, we timidly plunged into our F r e sh m a n year. But our fears proved to be unfounded, for with the assistance of our sponsors, Mr. Causey, Mr. Brookshire, Mr. George, and Mrs. Newlin, we began to gain self- confidence and entered into several high school activi- ties, ending the school year with a picnic at High Point City Lake. Again fall arrived, the fall of 19571, and we looked a little condescendingly on the new faces at Randleman High, whomwe recognized to be Freshmen. As Sopho- mores, wewidenedour range of high school experiences, participating in more activities, and gaining new self- assurance all the while. Under the capable direction of our Sophomore sponsors, Miss Walton and Mr. Wall, our second year of high school came to a perfect close with an outing at Reynolds Park. Came our Junior year, in the fall of 1958, and we found that our newly acquired position entailed a great deal of responsibility. Our sponsors, Miss Walton, Miss Cox, and Mr. Smith, aided us greatly in the planning of the magazine campaign, the Junior play, Warning Wings, the Junior-Senior Banquet, and the graduation exercises. Members of the class attended the Beta Club Convention in Asheville, one of the m ost memorable events that had yet occured, and the F.B.L.A. Conven- tion in Durham. On May 8, 1959, at the Starmount Forest Country Club, our Junior year came to a thrilling climax as we kept a Rendezvous with the Stars, a History banquet that will remain in our memory as long as time endures. Then a new s chool year dawned, the fall of 1959, and we had reached our last plateau, the pinnacle of our high school careers. We were S e n i ors! But hardly had we r e c o ve r e d from the first proud moments as upper cl a s s m e n when we were plunged into such a flurry of excitement that we wondered whether we would ever be able to attain the goal for which we had strived so long. Electing class officers, m as cots, annual staff, and superlatives, cho os in g the color of and measuring for our c aps and gowns, selecting the class colors, flower, and motto, participating in the magazine c a m p a i g n, presenting the Senior pl a y, The Little S h e ph e r d of Kingdom Come, which received high acclaim, in all of these activities we accepted with the utmost appre- ciation the guidance and unceasing efforts of our sponsors, Mrs. Montgomery and Mr. Austin. The year was packed with unforgettable moments: the time spent on the pub- lications of the annual, the RENDEZVOUS, and the s chool paper, the Spotlight, the Beta and F. B. L, A. Conventions, the junior-Senior B an que t, at which we were honore d with an always-to-be-remembered evening, the Senior trip to wWashington, that contained more fun and excitement than we had ever experienced. And once, more it is graduation time for the Seniors of Randle rn an High School. Finally, graduation has come for us, the Class of 1960, and we realize that, all too soon, our four-year quest for knowledge has ended. But time cannot stand still, pro g re ss is essential. The way in which we command the order of our lives from this day on will determine our future goals. CAROLE WALKER Class Historian ixREvK:EEJX5ER l ,- 14,4-Wir' ff!
