Elass flisiary Remembering our high school days-the good-times, the struggles, and the unforgettable moments of achievement-the often quoted, Time Flies , is quite fitting. As Class Historian, I'm going to turn back time and relive with you some of the hi-lights of our high school days. First let's go to the fall of '53 and the time we first entered Randleman High. I can see us filing into the new building and by our ignorance of sched- ules it is easily detected that we are Freshmen. Our class is divided into three homerooms, Mrs. Alexander's, Mr. Causey's, and Mr. Neal's. By the end of the semester we are enjoying immensely the activities offered us. lt's the spring of '54 and I see our class gathered at High Point City Lake for a party. Then school ends, and we denounce our title, Green Freshmen . Time passes, fall comes, and we enter school as, Silly Sophomores . Un- der the guidance of Miss Cox and Miss Liles, our year is a prosperous one. There are happenings of '54-'55 which we shall never forget-the Christmas party, our participation in activities, and the end-of-school picnic. Continuing to look into the past, I find our Junior year filled with signifi- cance. Mrs. Swiggett and Mr. Wall are our helpful sponsors. The magazine campaign proves to be a worthwhile proiect, for we win a special plaque. Glancing back on outstanding events of the year, I see a curtain rise, re- vealing my classmates, portraying characters in, Call Me Darling , our Junior play. Then finally comes the night of the Junior-Senior Banquet. Decorations of blue and white adorn the Thomasville Woman's Club and our theme, Mo- ments To Remember , is carried out perfectly. Graduation time nears and we take part in the Senior's Class Night. We held an arch for the Seniors to pass through and then sadly sang them a farewell song. At graduation, I can see how proud we are of our stately marshals as they lead the Seniors down the aisle. We closed our Junior year and its many, Moments To Remember , with a party at High Point City Lake. Then comes the long awaited year-we are Seniors! We learn that being a Senior is a big responsibility and that it is necessary for us to set a good ex- ample for the student body. Gazing back, I see us seated with our Senior sponsors, Miss Holladay and Mrs. Swiggett, who worked faithfully with us during the year. We chose our colors, a motto, mascots, the annual staff, superlatives, and we measured for caps and gowns. Then, I see that after much rehearsing we presented our play, Finders Creepers , which was a smash hit. The memorable banquet given us by the Juniors, and the fun and thrill of our Washington trip will always stay in our hearts. Suddenly, it was time for the graduation exercises-class night, the Bac- calaureate Sermon, and now, graduation night itself. As I look into the faces of my classmates, I know their thoughts are the same as mine. Each of us real- izes that we have not learned all that has been offered us in books, but we feel that we have learned the most beautiful and beneficial lesson of all, how to get along with people. I can also see that they are sad as I am-sad because we are leaving the Alma Mater of which we have so long been a part. But Seniors, remember the true words of our motto, Not at the Heights, But Climb- ing . Our high school days have been our first and perhaps our most important step, but not the end of our iourney. Instead of grieving at what we must leave behind, we must continue upward if we are to reach the goals and achieve the success intended for us by our Creator. Class Historian Sandra Raby
