CLASS PHUPHEEY TEN YEARS HAVE GONE BY since I attended Randle- man High as a Senior in 1944. Today, May 23, 1954, is significant in the history of my Alma Mater, since it is home-coming day set aside for the dedication of the modern, beautiful school building. Coming by plane from Washington, I landed at the new airport in Randleman and came by taxi to my dear old Alma Mater, which I hardly recognized. Since I was early I found none of my classmates had arrived, so I began inspection of the remodeled building. Walking into the large modern library, one of the Hnest in the state, I found a copy of the 1944 RENDEZVOUS which I greeted as an old friend. Looking through its pages I saw first a classmate who is famous, Louise Webster, an opera singer at the Metropolitan. Leonard Surratt is a minister at a local church. Next I saw Richard Allred, the Treasurer of the United States, replacing Mr. Morgenthau who has retired. jean Stout is Secretary to Wayne Loflin, the Mayor of Sophia, However, she plans to ac- cept the offer to go to New York as accompanist for a popular program at the Columbia Broad- casting Studio. Blanche julian plans to take Jeans place as Secretary, but she can't take jeans place in Wayne's heart. Lester Crotts and Worth Rich- ardson are driving transfer trucks. Lucille Hall is married and living at High Point. A letter from her said that Edna Hudson, Tommy McKenzie, Marie Presnell, and Norman Farlow are owners of the largest iron and steel plant in New jersey, running on twenty-hour shifts. They iron all day and stealaway for a good time after work. Carl- etta Allred and Maxie Lee Fleming have a shoe store in Greensboro. When I saw Nancy Fulp the other day she told me she had her own hospital. Myra jean Hardin is one of the nurses. Nancy said they usually helped the patients, but when Freddie was released from the hospital he was just as nutty as he was when he entered. Maybe he's an exception. Re- cently while I was listening to a radio program I was delighted to hear that the star was Marie Garner, the class hillbilly singer, who now has an hour program. Binford Farlow, the owner of a large farm in Sophia, has solved a great prob- lem for the housewives by raising potatoes that do not need peeling. Madelyne Anderson is pro- prietor of ther- largest dime store in Randleman. Dennis Farlow operates the Sophia Dairy. George Toomes, a doctor, lives in'Florida. Belle Bryant, a great lover of flowers has produced a thornless American Beauty rambler rose. Charles Daniels is manager of that famous baseball team, the Naomi Riverrats. Bruce Spencer and Max Rollins are the star players. ' I see in the papers that Peggy Moser is a famous Powers Model. Louise Allred is an interior decorator. Willadene Shaw is advertising manager for The Randleman Times. Frances Stanton is a Home Economics teacher for the Oak Ridge Mili- tary Academy. She has all the cadets cooking and sewing. Bill Crotts and James Bryant liked the Navy so well that they have decided to stay. Elvee Hedgecock has become famous for her many books, the most popular of which is, It Pays To Be Ignorantf' On a program the other day I heard Calvin Owens, the class Romeo, the Clark Gable of 1954. Eva Mae Farlow is planning to live at Franklin- ville. Her fiance has a sawmill, so perhaps she will help him. Lucy Frazier and Lois Harrison are pilot and co-pilot of a passenger plane, Margaret Hancock is the stewardess. Charles McCaskill, the class brag, is too busy with surgery to brag anymore. Imogene Yow is famous for her wonderful in- vention, a hair curler for rainy days. A news flash iust revealed that Sara Wise, who entered the Gigglers' Contest, won the title Miss Giggle- box of 1954.', As I close the book, I glance up and see that some of my classmates have arrived and are be- ginning their inspection of the building, so with reverence I put the annual of '44 back in its place to be scanned by many students of R. H. S. for many years to come, and go to join my classmates. NANCY GRAVES. A4 Six! een -.- -M -aiuiialanimnizvuusl-A -- -
