The cheerleaders look happy, but are they? Although JV cheerleaders Debbie Losover and Nina Hands love cheerleading, both concur that or- ganization was poor. Nina blames the lack of organiza- tion on faulty communication -of- ten cheerleaders were not informed of practices. Debbie says that as a result the cheerleaders did not prac- tice enough. Varsity cheerleader Susan Sauer- wald notes another problem: School spirit is good but it could be better. At a wrestling match, rowdy fans heckled the girls with taunts such as pack it up, cheerleaders, pack it up.!9 Despite these problems, most cheerleaders are devoted to raising spirit. Debbie Losover feels that the tryouts were hard and only the most skilled and dedicated girls made the squad. Sophomore Cathy Cordaro plans to try out next year. She seeks to gain social status. Pm scared that I won't make the squad, she notes. Rah! Rah! Rah! Sis, boom, bah! The cheerleaders won't stop spurring on spirit no matter what problems they face. 80!Cheerleaders
