INSIDE LESTER by Fred Carmichael Lester Pelham is a mild-mannered writer and the creator ot the world's leading two tisted private eye, Tough Molloy. To give his TV scripts plausibility, Lester always has his attractive secretary, Maggie, and her teen-age niece, Toni, act them out in his office. During one ot these sessions, a package which contains a stolen diamond is delivered. Lester inadvertently swallows the stone. When the thieves show up to recapture it, they take Maggie, Toni, and the world's mast valuable stomach along with them. Beck and Louie, two ot the funniest gunmen ever created, deliver the three captives to their boss, George Fleming and his seemingly dumb girl friend, Casa Lester makes several unsuccessful attempts to escape causing Maggie to think he is a coward. ln the end he comes up with a brilliant idea which brings the police to their rescue. A second diamond is found revealing that the tlrst diamond was only paste, These incidents and a hilarious ending com- pose a delightful three act comedy. BERNARDINE by Mary Chase Bernurdine is a hilarious comedy centered around the lite of a teen-age gang, This group ot energetic boys holds as its ideal thi: most unusual and wondertul woman in the world. Her name is Bernardinel The most unfortunate part of the whole situation is that Bernardine exists only in the imagination at the boys. Thus, their main obiective becomes to hnd a girl who most nearly personifies their ideal. The play is highlighted by the delightful antics at Wormy, an odd boy who has had difficulty in titting into gang-life. It is Wormy who finds an older, more mature woman -a perfect Bernarcline from Sneaky Falls. whose only fault ia greviaus misfortune for the boys is that at being married. Worn-iy, however, because he taund her, wins the respect of the fellows and all ends well. With its laughter and warm-hearted comedy, Bernardine has found its place in the hearts at everyone and will long be remembered as the high spot in the iunior year ot the Class at '58 Cast Arthur Beaumont- Bolo Ord Buford Worrnyi Weldy-Warren Engard Marvin Tub Griner-Warner Van Sciver George Fudge Friedelhauser-Ken Haines Leonard Carney--John Schiller Morgan 'Dinlc Olson-Roger Carney Vernon Kinswood-Jett Stokes Gibbs-Melvin Ostrow McElrayfJohn Kennedy Ruth the warden Weldy-Nancy Nutt Selma Cantriclc--Brenda Kumpf Jean Cantriclc-Pat Beidler Enid Lacey--Sandy Harrison Helen the waitress -Betty Thompson A. HOLLY SPIRIT The dictionary defines a newspaper as that which prints the most recent news, literary material and advertisements. Certainly our high school's HOLLY SPIRIT is all that and more, Climbing the ladder of news, we start with the lighter, and perhaps most popular side. We mean none other than Looney Tunes, the vacuum cleaner picks up all the dirt, Newsy Nancy Notices, etc. A step higher we have the teature articles, which in- clude personalities in the spotlight, the tat- tler, and interviews on careers. Next come the news articles, those current happenings ot in- terest to the students. An added attraction to HOLLY SPIRIT this spring was the sports page. This met with the whole-hearted approval ot sports fans and greatly increased the paper's popularity, High- est on our ladder, we turn to the more serious aspect ot writing--articles submitted by Mr. Fenrich and the guidance department, and, ot course, the editorials. Since HOLLY SPIRIT is subsidized by a gen- eral tund, no advertisements are included. Published monthly throughout the school year, HOLLY SPIRIT is read and enioyed by all. FIRST ROW: J. Vvalxer, C.
