358 Ads Cit of orth Las Vegas The North Las Vegas City Hall, completed in late 1966 on twenty-two acres of ground, is sur- rounded by a large expanse of lawns, shrubs and trees. Although it is designed for furture expansion, the present building contains office space for the people who carry on the business of an ever-growing city, plus City Council chambers and a special meeting room-. The Fire Department personnel are located at three different Fire Stations throughout the city. The Central Fire Station and headquarters, completed in 1975, is located at the corner of Cary Avenue and Daley Street with Satellite Stations at Civic Center Drive and Cheyenne Avenue. The firemen are trained in all of the latest techniques of fire-fighting and use the best equipment available to protect the citizens of the city. The Public Safety Building, located at the corner of Bruce Street and Lake Mead Boule- vard, is nearing completion of the expansion program that started two years ago. The new portion is three stories high and encompasses a new jail, offices, laboratories, communications center and a radio-active fall-out shelter. The renovated older section houses the traffic divi- sion, criminal attorney's offices and a courtroom. The Public Library, located on Civic Center Drive in the same general area as the City Hall, has a capacity of 34,000 books. The people who are responsible for operating this facility have received many commendations for the wide variety of extra-activities that they make available to the public.
