Before the game, the traditional parade was held in North Las Vegas at 11 am. The ROTC colorguard, the Ram Band, Rancheros, cheer- leaders, songleaders, clubs and organizations and, of course, all of the class floats partici- pated in the parade. At the game, the winners of the floats were announced.The junior class took sweepstakes while sophomores took first place. Pep Club placed first in the clubs and organizations divi- sion. Iamie Bell, homecoming queen, and her six attendants, Beverly Boucher, Sandra Dixon, Iris Iones, Laura Lopez, Rosa Lozano and Cheryl Tasker all rode in Corvettes through the parade. Mrs. Marjorie Arenaz was selected as Mis- tress of Ceremonies and she too rode in the parade. 7' 'S Marching in the annual Homecoming Parade, held in North Las Vegas, is the Ram Band. if i. fr' 34.1. Students in aried honors Each year students distinguish themselves in various categories on our campus, categories such as athletics, academics, and leadership contests. One of these winners this year was Senior Emil Stein, a student here for four years. Emil's accomplishments have been in the fields of sci- ence, student government and general leader- ship. Emil has won two scholarships which enabled him to take two seminar trips. Another three leadership winners were Laura Lopez, head songleader, Evelyn Mills, head cheerleader, and Karen Romano, student body secretary. These girls entered the Clark County Iunior Miss contest and were chosen as Semi- finalists to enter the state contest held in Reno. Winning many awards in athletics, Senior Mike Little was chosen as All-conference and All-State Middle linebacker, SUN and Review- Iournal Most Valuable Player of the week, Most Valuable Player of Football Team tDefensiveJ. Most Valuable Player of the week. Academically speaking, awards came also to our school. Regina Pollard and Tori Thompson exhibited their intellectual ability. Regina was announced as one of 1500 semi-finalists nation- wide eligible to compete for 550 National Achievement Scholarships for Outstanding Negro students. Tori Thompson was named Commended Student in the Merit Scholarship Corporation. Emil Stein's scholarships took him to the Capitol to meet the President. He also attended a seminar in Virginia to discuss today's issues. 30 Varied Honors The athletic Mike Little displays his awards and medals. Not only did Mike receive honors in football, he is also a state wrestling champion. Regina Pollard is the National Merit Scholarship finalist, and Tori Thompson was commended for her performance on the scholastic appti- tudetest. i
