. . team is winner The Iunior Varsity Basketball team, for the 1977 school year, placed first in the Sunrise Division with a season record of 14 wins and 7 losses. Coach Ken Iensen was quoted as saying that We had a fair season. We played far below our potential. Many of the games we lost we had good leads in the beginning but then due to mental lapses on defense, we lost. Four team members, Earlist Iohnson, who was voted the most valuable player, Toby Min- ter, Bernie Rhodes and Don Slocum were pro- moted to the varsity team during both Zone and State Tournaments. 1 Coach Iensen has been coaching basketball at Rancho for two years. One year freshmen and one year junior Varsity. He also coached the freshman football team which was undefeated this year. I.V.
