132 Boys' Tennis Bo s' Tennis finishes - Tennis is a sport of skill that is played indi- vidually. The Rancho Tennis Team showed both individual improvement and team effort. Tom Barrett, Iuniorg Mark Bloomfield, Sen- iorg and Craig Nesbitt, Senior, are three return- ing lettermen in Singles. This year there were four Seniors, four Iuniors, and four Sopho- mores. Rancho tied two games this year. However, they were considered Rancho victories because of the overall games, 113 games to 95 games against Eldorado, and 110 wins to 101 games against Bonanza. The ending season record was four wins, and seven losses. Coach Stanley commented, Ten- nis is good to get into because it's a lifetime sport. 5We've got spirit' o add more flavor to the class of '80, the ninth grade cheerleaders participate in the Bicentennial homecoming parade. The freshman float was ,hosen third at the beginning of the homecoming game. o eitit i Sophomore, sophomore. So, go.. . .Fresh- men, freshmen, go, go . . . These were the words that students and faculty heard at every assembly in the ninth and tenth grade sections led by their cheerleaders and mascots. Cheerleaders not only performed at the assemblies but also at the games. Their job was to promote school spirit at every game and assembly. The cheerleaders and mascots were chosed by a panel of judges at the beginning of the 1976-77 school year. Using ingenuity and originality, the squads, led by their heads, Sherri Downing fI.V.j, and Cris Iohnson fninthl, developed several new cheers. The I.V. and ninth grade squads received new uniforms this year by having carwashes, bake sales and dances. perfect balance, Laurie Hayden, bottom, and Mary Hatella posed with one their numerous stands.
