i on the sidelines 1s1ust as much a part of the game as playing on the field. patiently waits his turn. were quite frequent for the Freshman team this year. All together 9 touchdowns were scored against them. B Team is number one The Freshman team ended their season unde- feated with a 7-0 record. They started out the season with a victory over Eldorado Sun Devils 18-0, and went on to take every other team in the league including the Bonanza Bengals 35-2, a new team in the conference. Returning Coach Ken Iensen and Steve Hadowich put everything they had into the team. They worked hard and found it very rewarding. Basic had to be one of the toughest teams they played this year, and the most exciting. Basic was the only team that even came close to beating the Rancho Rams with the game ending in a close 22-20 score. Running backs Kenny Henning, Alanzo Woods, and Greg Harris were outstanding in their field as they proved again and again throughout the season. Defensive ends Ieff Bzovskie and Steve Gerfy did their best to stop the passing effort of the opposing team. The awareness and the alertness of the linebackers, Scott Hetrick, Dave Smith, and Edwin Romero, made the team what it was. Freshman Football 125

During the Eldorado game, Monica Turner, Shari Avance, and Sandra Dixon illustrate their cheering ability. er fingers to the cheer, Rock Steady, Donna Searles shows spirit at game Cheerleaders take a ards Denver, Colorado, was the spot this year the Varsity Cheerleaders chose for their annual trip to camp. The squad consisted of five juniors, and two Seniors. The girls received top honors such as, Superior, Excellent, Clean Sweep, Superstar ribbons, and Spirit Stick. Other awards given were plaques for the Dorm Award, Talent Award, in which the girls danced to Boogie Fever, and the top award of all, The Award of Excellence. During Cheerleading season, the girls cheered for Girls' Basketball, Volleyball, Boys' Football, and Basketball. The Head Cheerleader this year was Evelyn Mills, who has been a cheerleader here at Ran- cho for three years. Evelyn states, 'Tve really enjoyed being here and representing Rancho, sis really made my High School years enjoya- e. The advisors for the group this year were MariAnn Sprofera, and Robert Stanley. Both are currently teaching in the English Depart- ment. by the enthusiasm of the basketball fans is head cheerleader Evelyn Varsity Mascotsg Mandy Lee and Susan Haefner
