NI' The Pep Club for their assembly produced This Is Your Life, Hortense Applebeef' When the sub- ject of the program was announced, an extremely nsurprisedi' M arianne Wattenbarger, as Hor- tense, walked from her seat in the audience to the floor to hear Sharon Blomberg as M.C. narrate the memorable events of her life. Hortense as an Olympic star' was presented with a cup for winning the high hurdles competition. Meet- ing her lover in the ceme- tery was a favorite pas- time as a young girl. fNote the famous - or infamous people buried there.J A sad day was Hortenseis wedding day. The Dance Club traced the history of dancing from the earliest record, a picture on a cave Wall, to the future day of space. Interpretations of the dances of various periods of history were presented by the group. In the French courts of 1800, ballet first became popular. The graceful living of the Old South.,was represented by the elegance of its traditional co- tdlions. The 1920 era was the heyday of prohibition, flapper girls, and the charleston. Club members did the producing, designing, and choreo- graphy themselves and did it all marvelously. I rt
