Dedication To the faculty members and student body who have remained at Rancho since its beginning at Fifth Street School, We dedicate this book. The efforts that we the El Sol staff have made to create a memorable book for you are insignificant in comparison to what you have accomplished since the fall of '54, Cooperating with one another and with the students who also belong to Rancho, you have made the beginning of tradition and school pride. This book be- longs to you, the first of Rancho. To the school it is a reminder of what occurred throughout the year '57. To you people it is a re- minder of the last of four years of happy association and accom- plishment.

inexperienced yearbook workers joked, laughed, fought, and loafed the days through until the first deadline in mid- November. When that was passed, except for a few who had met the deadline, mem- bers continued their activities as before. Then came the second deadline which left even more of the staff in a state of con- fusion. Those who still had a deadline to meet, took the hint and buckled down to Work-for a while. With the warning that the final deadline was one week from the next Friday, and that publishers just won't wait, all pitched in and worked-for a while. But when March 17 was five days away, staff members started coming in at six or seven in the evening, leaving after the moon had long come over Sunrise with- out anyone's seeing or caring. About half- way through the night someone went out for food which was passed around, and all went back to work. Finally, the editor marked off the last square on the shipping record and announced, while halfway out the door, Let's goln The advisor tried the locked door, and with that gesture everyone knew that the book was as good as printed. On the way to the cars everyone remem- bered all the mistakes he had made. Why didn't l change that last layout? . . . I still donlt like the way I had that picture aken . . .
