Freeway League Champions Ad .1-' Bob Kane wins Varsity 880. Bob Armstrong breaks tape at 9.9 for the first time since he Tony Knight clears against Santa Ana Valley. Jerry Rauch on his way to win the low hurdles in the West- minister meet. Art Buckley, Rancho strongman, puts the shot 55'6 in practice meet. W I , 00 was ai sophomore. SUMMARY Rancho had its best track team ever this year to defend their championship trophies in the Varsity B, and C divisions. The Varsity had a better than even chance of going through the season with an unbeaten record as a team. Jerry Rauch displayed the form that he showed in last year's best meets. His times of 15.0 in the 120 High Hurdles and 19.9 in the 180 Low Hurdles were among the top two in the league. His broad jumping was also improved to an average of 21 feet per meet. Bob Armstrong showed speed this year that had come from nowhere. He was the first man in Orange County to break 10.0 second. Field events were also vastly improved over past years. Tony Knight went from 11 feet 6 inches last season to 12 feet 41 inches early this year. Art Buckley went from a best effort in the shot put of 4-8 feet 6 inches to a phenominal 55 feet in practice. Larry Mclsemore, Ken Gaulden, and Wayne Esterline all went over six feet in the high jump this season. Vaquero Larry 1VIcLemore clears 6 ft. against the Santa Ana Valley Falcons.
