gfeeja .lorn Thygesen from Denmark ,lorn enjoys eating lunch with the boys on the senior lawn. tj .F.S. Rancho's foreign exchange student for the school year is ,lorn Thygesen, senior, from Horsens, Denmark. ,lorn first decided to apply for foreign exchange student when he read an article in the newspaper. He then wrote a letter and asked for an application. He was interviewed and asked to write an essay about himself which was sent to New York. On July 20, 1960 he learned that he was to go to America. When he reached New York he began writing to his new adopted family in Garden Grove, where he learned he would attend Rancho Alamitos in the fall. Jorn finds America very beautiful and likes the people very much. He didn't find it hard to make friends at Rancho and says he really goes for those American Girlsf' ,lorn is very active on campus this year with Golden Spur, World Friendship Club, A.F.S., varsity tennis and Student Council. He was chosen King of the Co-Eds this year among ten other candidates. Rancho is very happy to have had ,lorn for its foreign exchange student for the school year 1960-1961. TDE TS Sandy Edwards, senior, represented Rancho last sum- mer in Skage, Norway. Last year Sandy, along with many other students, was interviewed. From those inter- viewed, sixteen were chosen. They then wrote an essay about themselves and why they wanted to be an exchange student. From the essays four were chosen and their records and essays sent to New York. Sandy found out in May that she had been chosen from Rancho. She spent all summer there. She saw many beautiful scenes among them the never setting sun of Norway. Sandy is very active in school this year as song leader. She is also a commissioner, student council, A.F.S. club and Golden Spur. Sandy loves Rancho and is very popular. She spends most of her time studying because to her good grades come first. She spends the rest of her time song leading Rancho to victory.
