Mrs Aten helped acquaint Leena with the school routine and obiectives during the opening weeks of school. Leena Huttunen, our foreign exchange student, came to us from Lahti, Fin- land. To become a foreign exchange student, Leena competed in a statewide contest with 400 other students. She passed an English test, wrote an English essay, and a personal essay before she became a winner. There are 73 students from Finland in California. Leena attended a girls' private school in Lahti and studied four different lan- guages, Finnish, English, Swedish, and German. When Leena returns to school in Lahti, she will have to make up the year she has spent here. On her list of things she enioys doing are playing the piano, listening to classi- cal music, going to the theater, painting, and eating American hamburgers. Leena feels that the year she has spent at Rancho will be one of the memorable experiences of her life. One of Leena's duties as foreign exchange student Leena explains some of the features of her country to the finalists for foreign exchange student of Rancho-Sandy Edwards, Leena, Karen Hanson, Bill Rhodes, Molly Goodman. f Leena has learned many of our eating customs in her making class.
