Printed and Lithographed by the Clouds Peak Print- ery and the Rangeland Lithographing Co., Sheridan DEDICATED TO H. C. DIERKS Who gave his time and service to the interest of the schools in this community. COURAGE Courage isn’t a brilliant dash, A daring deed in a moment’s flash; It isn’t an instantaneous thing Born of despair with a sudden spring; It isn’t a creature of flickered hope Or the final tug at a slipping rope; But it’s something deep in the soul of man That is working always to serve some plan. Courage isn’t the last resort In the work of lire or the game of sport; It isn’t a thing that a man can call At some future time when he’s apt to fall; If he hasn’t it now, he will have it not When the strain is great and the race is hot. For who would strive for a distant goal. Must always have courage within his soul. —Author Unknown WISDOM When I have ceased to break my wings Against the faultiness of things, And learn that compromises wait Behind each hardly opened gate, When 1 can look life in the eyes, Grown calm and very coldly wise, Life will have given me the Truth, And taken in exchange—my youth. —Sara Teasdale • t4hkcuU ★ Editor Assistant Editor Advertising Elaine Kawulok, Dorothy Kawulok, Jerry Hallowed Subscriptions James Strais Sports Class News Production Elaine Kawulok, Dorothy Kawulok, Jerry Hallowed Bert Johnston Mrs. Kovach, Miss Wallace, Mr. Korhonen Faculty Advisors. They were Fairy Harper, Eddie Kukuchka, Jerry Hallowell, Ben Schreibeis, Walter Washut, Robert Sperl and Dorothy Sperl. During the twelve intervening years the class lost some of its members and gained others until there are now only two of the original eight. In the sixth grade our class was increased by four new pupils: Georgia Bruce, Ileene Weber, Dallas Newlon, and Jasper Russell. Maxine Weber and Denzil Madron joined us the following year and Loren Rubottom in the eighth grade. At the end of the freshman year there were just six of us as Maxine Weber and Dallas Newlon dropped school in the latter part of the season and Jasper Russell joined the Marines. Frances Harris, Ethel Mae Anderson and John Burgess joined us in our sophomore year but Loren did not come back. Our junior class was the same as its previous sophomore class except that Ethel Mae moved. At the beginning of the senior year there were only five of us, Fances and Ileene not reporting back. In March John Burgess and Denzil Madron joined the Navy. 7 rlls HANQUET The annual Junior-Senior banquet was held at Ann Newell’s Cafe in Sheridan Friday, April 6. The program was as follows: Welcome Dorothy Kawulok, Toastmaster Response.....................................Georgia Bruce Toast .....................................Mrs. Kovach Piano Solo................................Bertie Johnston Class Prophecy.............................Jerry Hallowed Class Will..................................Ben Schreibeis Toast .....................................Miss Wallace Farewell Address..........................Elaine Kawulok PROM The Junior-Senior prom was held at the Hall Saturday, May 4. The hall was decorated very beautifully in white and blue. It was decorated simply but attractively. Last but not least the Downbeats furnished the music that made the evening perfect. BACCALAUREATE This year the services were held at the Christian Church in Sheridan at 11 A. M., May 19. Reverend J. S. Nelson conducted the services. Many Ranchester people attended. COMMENCEMENT A large crowd came to see our graduating members receive their diplomas. The exercises were held at the hall on May 21 at 8:00 P. M. Reverend E. J. Bernthal gave the invocation and bene- diction. Mr. W. D. Redle gave a fitting and inspiring address. Mr. Korhonen presented the awards and diplomas to the seniors. The Ladies’ Club presented the seniors with flowers. Several musical se- lections were played. 21 SENIOR WILL We, the Senior Class of Ranchester High School, of Ranchester, Sheridan County, State of Wyoming, do hereby make, publish, and declare this to be our last will and testament. We have placed emphasis on self-improvement and cooperation this year. We have had a very active Citizenship Club. Through this club we have had the opportunity to practice parliamentary law and take up topics of general community interest. Our meetings are held each Friday. Once a month new officers are elected. Nearly all of the pupils in the room have had an opportunity to serve as an officer. We have had parties on Halloween, Christmas and Valentine’s Day. On Washington’s Brthday the Intermediate Room and the Pri- mary Room had a combined assembly and put on a program. Dick Masters, David Hallowell and Bob Russell were chosen to play on the Junior High School Basketball team. Unfortunately Dick injured his knee and was not able to participate in the sports this year. Our group is having a Hop-Scotch turnament this spring and as soon as the weather permits we are going to organize a baseball team. ---- II 'P'Unuvuf ‘IRotwt FIRST GRADE Joyce Cook Peter Davis Edward Fiedor Barbara Haul Clifford Kaufman Lyle King Patsy Myers Estella Newlon Pat Schimmel Delmar Werre George Wandra SECOND GRADE Barbara Addleman Larry Cook Donald Hauf David Hopkins Larry King John Korhonen Margie Rubottom Richard Seder Joyce Wagner THIRD GRADE Joe Fiedor Jack Fleming Eddie Kukuchka Darryl Lowell David Schreibeis Robert Seder Ray Lee Williams Motto: “Do the Best Always.” We began our year with an enrollment of twenty-one. However, two boys were added to our class in March, making our enrollment back to the usual twenty-five. We had twenty boys and five girls. Our entertainments and social events of the year included Hal- loween, Christmas, and Valentine parties, and a play at Christmas time, “The Merry Elves.” The play was held in the primary room in- stead of the hall where it is regularly held because of a flu epidemic. We correspond with the Danefield school in South Dakota. Pic- tures of the classes were exchanged. % rlts= ACTIVITIES 45 TR. S.
