One was a tie, and the other games were split even, Ramsey winning the game at Vandalia, and Vandalia winning here. The usual line-up was: Didway, cg Wanbaugh, pg Eller lbs Finley Zbz Rainey 5bg Carlock ssg Pope lfg England cf, Baker rf. Q g BASKETBALL f , The basketball season from the standpoint of games won and lost, was not very successful, the locals winning eleven and dropping fifteen. We were able, how- ever, to win two trophies, third places in the Ramsey and the St. Elmo Tournaments. we lost the first game of the District Tournament to the winners, Greenville. The two best games played by the locals were the season's games with Tower Hill. With the strong Tower Hill team at full strength, the locals won BC to 27 at Tower Hill. The score in the game at Ramsey was 29 to 28. Charles barlock was the outstanding scorer of the season, and he made a very enviable scoring record. Tower Hill won from from Vandalia to take the Fifth Annual Ramsey Invitational Tournament. TH BASKETBALL TEAM: Charles Carlock, Junior Staff, Earl Wanbaugh, Eller, Harold England, Mont Spires, Charles Howard Stokes, Tommy Morrison, Max Pope, Woodrow Finley. OOOOOOTRACKODDIOC C The Track season is not far enough advanced for the success of? the team to be prophesied. As this article goes to press, the first meet has just been won. In a quadranguair meet at Shelbyville, the locals won from the vaunted Shelby team with Bethany and Cowden trailing. nBuckU Wanbaugh, Earl Eller, Harold England, Charles Carlock and Howard Stokes performed sensationally. Other members of the squad who helped to win the meet were: Lora Jackson, Woodrow Finley, Homer Rainey, and Lorenz Hoffman. we hope again to be crowned as County Champions in track and field events. 1 OUR COACH EOF ATHLETICS ,J. It developed through the school year, and several members were graduated at the end of the year. In the fall of 1932, the Orchestra was reorganized with the places of those who were graduated filled by some others who had learned on their instruments. The instrumenta tion was, of course, somewhat changed, and the members re- hearsed quite often during the school year. t The social program of the Orchestra consisted only of one party, a pot luck supper, which was held late in the school year. The musical program consisted of a con- cert early in the year in Ramsey, to which each orchestra member invited those whom he wished to attend, a concert played at Fillmore, the music for the Armisticeibay program by the Women's Auxiliary of the American Legion, playing at various school functions, the Commencement music, and the final program culminating weeks of practice in the year's Concert. , The Spring Concert was well attended. The Orchestra had practiced for some time on the pieces which they played, and the individual numbers were exceedingly good. The music was much more difficult than any before attempted. The Seniors in the Orchestra, with.Mr. Wilson, formed an orchestra of their own and experimented with a little jazz during the year. They made a few appearances and were well received. For the two years, Mr. Wilson has directed the orchestra, and through great hardships, it has developed so that the com unity should be proud of its accomplishments. J ': 1fTfgQ7:,:5' gr -THE GIRLS' GLEE CLUB In the fall of 1952, the Girls' Glee Club regrganized in the Ramsey High School for the third consecutivp, Also, for the third consecutive year, Miss Esther Coggeshall, the High School English teacher, was in charge of the Glee Club. The social events for the year include: the initiation party, hikes, and a pot luck supper. Among the singing activities of the year are the entertainments within the high school, the minstrel show, singing for grade commence-' ments in the vicinity, the Baccalaureate, and the enter- tainment at the Fayette County Teachers' Association. The Vandalia program consisted of a program in the morning by the sextette, and another program in the afternoon by the entire Glee Club. The project of the year was the annual operetta. HThe Feast of The Red Cornu was staged in the gymnasium, February 17th, by an all-girl cast. The operetta was an Indian pro- duction, using all Indian costumes. The story was taken from an ancient legend of the Wanta Indiana. The maidens left the tribe each spring, and went to a secluded spot for the celebration of NThe Feast of The Red Cornu. At this feast, each maiden might choose an ear of corn. The maiden who, in the feast, found the first ear of red corn expressed her dearest wish to the Sorceress, who called upon the Gods pf the Four Winds to give a sign that the wish would be granted. Miss Esther Coggeshall must be given much credit for her untiring work in behalf of the Glee Club. Her path V for the last three years has not been the easiest one to tread, but she has kept steadfastly to her purpose, and the village of Ramsey as'well as the High School can well be proud of the excellent glee club which she has built up in her three years of work.
