'Qtazra gi , r C0 MA R T RREL I. CLARK, USN Commander Clark is a native Philadelphian and a graduate of Temple University. He was commissioned through Officers Candidate School, Newport, Rhode Island in August 1964 and served his initial sea tour in USS MARIAS IAO-57l as Assistant First Lieutenant and Gunnery Officer. In August 1967, after a one year tour in the Republic of Vietnam with the U.S. Naval Advisory Group, Commander Clark reported aboard USS MAC DONOUGH IDLG-8l for an eighteen month assignment as First Lieutenant. Following graduation from the U.S. Naval Destroyer School, Newport, Rhode Island in August 1969. Commander Clark served for two years as Engineer Officer, USS KEPPLER IDD-765l. In October 1971 he reported to the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland for duty as a company officer in the Office of the Commandant. In August 1974 Commander Clark attended the Command and Staff Course of the U.S. Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island where he graduated with high distinction. He then served in USS HARRY E. YARNELL ICG-17l as Engineer Officer from October 1975 until June 1977. His follow on assignment was as Executive Officer, USS AYLWIN IFF-10811 ln June 1979 Commander Clark reported to the Naval Military Personnel Command, Washington, D.C. for a two year tour as Head, Enlisted Surface Technical Ratings Assignment Branch. In June 1982 he completed a one year senior officer course of study at the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, National Defense University. Washington, D.C. On 22 December 1982 Commander Clark assumed command of USS RAMSEY IFFG-2l. His military decorations include the Navy Commendation Medal, two awards, the Navy Achievement Medal. and various unit commendations, theater and service medals. Commander Clark is married to the former Mary Grace Daly of South Hadley, Massachusetts. They have two children, Terry and Timothy.

.N 'ir USS RAMSE Y FF - THE HISTORY OF USS RAMSEY QFFG-25 USS RAMSEY CFFG-21 is a Brooke class guided missle frigate especially designed for locating and destroying enemy submarines and aircraft, ln addition to performing anti-submarine and anti-air warfare, RAMSEY is capable of such varied missions as anti- surface ship warfare, shore bombardment, search and rescue, patrol, evacuation, blockade, visit and search or surveillance. The ship is equipped with a modern long range sound detection system QSONARD, a long range air and surface search radar, modern communications equipment, a light airborne multipurpose QLAMPSD helicopter and a sophisticated electronic warfare system, Arrriament includes one inc cai er gun o u e - - medium range TARTAR missile system for use against aircraft and cruise missiles. The ship also has six torpedo tubes and an anti- submarine rocket launching QASROCD system. RAMSEY is manned by 20 officers and 250 enlisted men. She has modern living compartments, and messing facilities, a post office. ships store. laundry, barber shop and dispensary. Ship's propulsion is provided by two pressure fired boilers providing 1200 si steam to turbines which drive a single propeller C15 feet in diameteri through a locked train reduction gear. RAMSEY is capable 5 h 38 l b f r s as an anti aircraft and anti surface weapon or for shore bombardment and a P of speeds over 27 knots. RAMSEY produces over 20,000 gallons of fresh water daily for personnel use and for feeding the ship boilers. RAMSEY has an overall length of 415 ft 1 inch, extreme beam of 44 feet, 2 5X8 inches and a full load displacement of 3553.52 tons. ' ' ' ' ' h' f f N l O t RAMSEY is the first ship to be named after Admiral Dewitt Clinton Ramsey, USN, Former Vice C ie o ava pera ions l1946-481 Commander-in-Chief Pacific and U.S. Pacific Fleet 119481 and U.S. High Commissioner Trust Territory of Pacific Islands l 19481 RAMSEY was built by Lockheed shipbuilding company in Seattle, Washington. She was commissioned at- 'Puget Sound Naval Shipyard on 3 June, 1967 and became the Flagship of Destroyer Squadron 29.
