EXECUTIVE OFFICER WALTER W. SALMON, JR., LCDR, USN 8 March 1970 - 29 September 1971 Lieutenant Commander Walter W. SALMON, Jr., was born in Mt. Holly, New Jersey, on 17 April 1934. After gradu- ating from Rutgers University in 1957, he attended Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island, and was com- missioned Ensign in the United States Naval Reserve on 1 No- vember 1957. His initial tour of duty was as Radio Officer, USS ALBANY QCA-1235. LCDR SAL - MON's next two duty stations kept him ashore for3 1X2 years, the first as an administrative assistant at Strategic Air Com- mand, Atlantic CSACLANTJ, then as a member of the Crypto Circuits Unit at Direc- tor, Naval Security Group QDIRNAVSECGRUJ ,Head- quarters. In April 1962, LCDR SALMON reported aboard USS NEWPORT NEWS QCA -1483 for duty as Navigator and Com- bat Information Center QCICJ Officer. In May 1965 he was assigned to USS GYATT IDD- 712J as Operations Officer. Two years with the Ministry of Defense Intelligence Desk Office, London, followed, after which LCDR SALMON attend- ed the Armed Forces Staff Col- lege and Tartar Missle School, Vallejo, California. LCDR SALMON assumed duties as Executive Officer, USS RAMSEYQDEG-21, in March 1970. On 29 September 1971 he was relieved by LCDR LANE, his next duty station to be Com- manding Officer, USS LANG QDE-10703. LCDR SALMON is married to the former Nances M. BEN- NETT of Moorestown, New Jer- sey. They have two children: Bradley Paul and Barbara Marie. Lieutenant Commander Glynn Q. LANE, Jr., was com- missioned Ensign on 29 Janu- ary 1961 through the NROTC Program at the University of Oklahoma. His first duty station was the USS FURSEQDDR-8825. While on board he filled the billets of Anti-Submarine War- fare CASWD Officer, First Lieu- tenant, and Weapons Officer. In October 1963, LCDR LANE was assigned to the U.S. Naval De- stroyer School, Newport, Rhode Island, as a student. Upongrad- uation he served aboard USS BRINKLEY BASS QDD-8875 as Engineer Officer. In August 1966 he reported to the NROTC Unit at the University of Ne- braska where he was Assistant Professor of Naval Science in Engineering, Navigation, UCMJ, Administration, and Leader- ship. In July 1968, LCDR LANE was ordered to the U.S. Naval War College at Newport, Rhode Island, where he graduated with distinction and also completed his Master's Degree with George Washington University. LCDR LANE is authorized to wear the following awards: Navy Commendation Medal fwith Combat VD, Navy Unit Com- mendation, Combat Action Rib- bon, Navy Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal fseven campaignsy, Vietnam Honor Medal First Class, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with palm, Meritorious Unit Com- mendation, and the Vietnamese Service Medal. LCDR LANE and his wife, Gay, are from Fort Smith, Ar- kansas. They have f our children: Glynn, Wendy, Deborah, and Heather. EXECUTIVE OFFICER GLYNN O.. LANE.
