Always aware of love and care Thankful for those who were willing to share. As our new horizon comes into view, Hopes are high and hearts ring true. Jackie Cates Class Poet YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE When you walk through a storm, Keep your chin up high, And don't be afraid of the dark. At the end of the storm is a golden sky And the sweet silver song of the lark. Walk through the wind, walk on through the rain Tho' your dreams be tossed and blown. Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart And you'll never walk alone, You'11 never walk alone. 611155 6'olor5 White and Blue 611155 57lowor White Carnation 611155 Motto Today we follow, tomorrow we 1ead. Mascots Teresa Jean Carrnac Joe Thomas Johnston Che 611155 Of '58 As we , the Class of '58, come to the end of our high school career, we look back over our twelve long years of hard work with priceless memo- ries. We think of the many wonder- ful times we had while we were still under the leadership of our elemen- tary teachers. In the eighth grade, with the assist- ance of Mrs. R. C. White, each of us shared the experience of touring our state capital and also attending court in Asheboro. Finally we found ourselves in high school. As freshmen, and with Miss Edith Rollins as our guide, we man- aged to find our places in this new atmosphere. This year we toured the Coble Dairyplant in Lexington and the Coble Dairy Farms. After a short rest period we return- ed to, what now seemed ve ry familiar, our regular line of work, but with a great determination to work harder. It really seemed great to be juniors. Our dreams were now becoming very real. With Mr s . Leo Rich to direct our y e a r ' s activities, we began by ordering our class rings. It took ages for them to get here, but finally they arrived. It was now time to work hard selling those magazine subscriptions. This we did, because we wanted to make that long awaited Junior-Senior banquet a huge success. 12 Another dr eam which came true was the Daisy Chain. After hours of hardiwork and fun, we produced two beautiful daisy chain! through which the seniors marched. A very short surnrner sped by and we were Seniors at last! With Mrs. Guy Lane by our side we knew that o ur ye a r ' s undertakings would be successful. Now came the time for ordering and s elling things--all sorts of things. We had to work hard for that trip to Washington. O ur calling cards and invitations were ordered also. As we near the end of our high school road, we wish to express our most s inc e r e thanks to our grade mothers, our principal, our teachers , and our parents. Without their love, patience , kindness , and understanding we could ne ve r ha ve attained this great step in our lives. Wincey Cox Historian fast Will ,find Zfestameut We, the Cla s S of 1958 being fully aware of the fact that we will soon be leaving our beloved Alma Mater, do make and sign this our last will and testament, hoping thereby to settle all disputes that might arise after our departure. Linda Brady Testatrix 614.95 Prophecy lt is 1968 now, and here I am the first person eve r to reach the moon by way of V ang ua r d , of course. Everything is so different up here. I wonder what's happen- ing on the earth, where long ago I left my old Alma Mater. Wait, what do I see? It seems to be something in the s hape of a rocket ship. Y e s , and it's landing! There's someone coming out of the ship. It is Jackie Cates, one of my old classmates. who finally found me - after ten years. She has been sailing around in outer space reminiscing. She brought me up to date on the rest of our classmates. Mike York, the little man of the class, has just recorded his big hit, Little Bittie Pretty One. Linda Brady is now the editor of The Ramseur Time . Daile Wilson and Roger Woodell, living up to their title. Quietest. are training mice in a rat circus. Gerald Cox is still ditching it: this time not a school bus, but a trailer truck. W in c e y Cox is now cooking the coons her husband catches on his hunting trips. Steve Siler has invented an automatic typewriter. The typewriter does the workg all he does is dictate. Jackie Welborn is no longer saying, I second the motion. He is now the president of the Ramseur Trucking Firm. Betty Lou Lineberry has her own Sweet Shoppe located on the Coleridge Road. Eddie Chriscoe, now Ed Gable, has the leading pa rt in the movie, Love 'em and Leave 'em . Patricia Burgess is no longer yelling, Go tearn,go , but, No, no, no, to her four children, of course. .Tame s Whitehead, Nature Boy, has justinventeda Push Pedal Singing Garbage Can , with a year supply of garbage, free without extra charge. Martha Hodgin, always wanting some recreation d ur ing her high school days, ha s finished building The Hodge Skating Rink, located on Cat's Corner. Bill Smith is professor of psychology at Yale University. Annette Cox is now the Mistress of Ceremonies on he r new television show, If at first you don't succeed, cry, cry, again. Pat Leonard has a comic strip in The Ramseur Times which he calls, The Life and Legend of Baby Face Sputnik. Patty York is now a private secretary to The Cox Corporation located in Coleridge, no doubt. W. A. Brown ha s just invented a new mouth wash for getting rid of nicotine odors on the breath. His slogan is, Gargle now, it may be too late tomorrow. Rebecca Allen, secretary to the F.B.I. in Washington, is t r ying to track down the numbe r one bandit of the nation, Clem Sputnik III. Doug Sillmon has just signed a contract with the Washington Red Skins . Katie Southe r owns a chain of beauty salons. Now she is famous for her special on peroxide hair. Martha Coxis now coaching The All-girl Moon-Toafers Basketball Team. These bits of information about my class- mates brought back many pleasant memo- ries of our school days. It was so pleasing to hear of the success of my classmates, the graduating class of 1958. Jackie Jones Prophetess if ,R 4 1 A 'XXXSQSQS lPI RL TWH MR, AND MISS R.H.S.
