RHS Spirit Shines Through You know it’s Friday, when you open the door to the gym and you see spirit-bound RHS students waiting for the start of the assembly. The band starts to play “On Ramona” and the crowd goes wild. As you have noticed, there has been more spirit this year. Whether you were cheering with your class or getting the team ready for the game, you felt and saw the excitement. Some of the more memorable moments were: the introduction 6 1. Wait! There’s more! 2. Surprise! 3. Don’t drop me! 4. I’m so cute! 5. Fun in the sun! 6. Dizzy Blondes! 7. Hot Buns! 8. Charge! 10 of the Freshman class and the Jock Pots where Jeri Koepp and Brian Roe displayed their spirit by wearing toilet seats all day. There was also Hot Buns, where each class tried to melt down the block of ice first. These were just a few class competitions. Mr. Roulsten’s phrase “Excellence is a Matter of Pride” has been presented many times this year. Through pep assemblies, class competitions, and student participation we have showed that our pride and spirit shine through.

FANTASIES Jennifer Abiel and Tom Smith Megan McConville and Frank Thomas Tory Reece and Matt Dart This year something new was tried for our Home- coming. A Night of Fantasies began with the crown- ing of our 1987 Homecoming King and Queen. The candidates made a grand entrance down the steps of our stadium and onto the field. The King was an- nounced, Jason McClenaghan, and he was given a pillow with a glass slipper on it. He walked in front of the ladies, slowly, drawing attention. Everyone won- dered who would be his queen. A lull came over the crowd and Janet McCrite was announced Homecom- ing Queen. Excitement filled the air, cameras clicked, and flashes sparked, as the King and Queen stood together in front of the stands, then made their grand exit. Our Homecoming dance was held in the gym, which was decorated with blue and white draped streamers. One slow song was dedicated to the court and Jason and Janet opened the dancing. Slowly the rest of the court flowed out into the circle, and after a few min- utes everyone else joined in. The dance was something special to remember, definitely a Night of Fantasies. The King and Queen and their entourage had their pictures taken at Ramona’s own castle, just the right end to a week of Fantasies.
