Anonymous It’s better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid, then to open it and remove all doubt. The most difficult part of getting to the top of the ladder, is get- ting through the crowd at the bottom. A person who can smile when things go wrong has prob- ably just thought of someone he can blame. 12 14 Seniors This years Senior Class was one of the best. Al- though we’ve had our ups and downs, we seemed to always end up on top. As you think of all the memories lingering through your four years at R.H.S., remember we managed to win Powder-puff two years in a row. Our junior and Senior years we placed first in the float competition (we won’t talk about the other two years.) We put on an excellent Jr.-Sr. Prom and we managed to have the first Senior section in Color, Yes, we were a unique class, al- ways one step ahead of the rest. As you recieve your diploma, and say good bye to all your teach- ers and friends, remember your saying good bye to your youth years and hello to the rest of your life! Good Luck in everything you do. 15 Seniors Venita Mary Abbott Lorie J. Adams Paul Edward Alatorre Lori Ann Alcaraz Tammy Faye Allen Jeffrey J. Artis Teresa Ann Atkins Bonnie J. Babb Richard A. Many have tried, but to no avail, so I will attempt to define this word. I actually could explain it in one word, but, first I think to understand love is to understand the person you are in love with. If you can’t understand them, you are lost. I understand you very well. You are unsure you have this feeling inside you, just let it be, In time you will change that unsureness into pleasure. Now, that one word to describe love is very simply “YOU.” ■DANNY 147 Nightlife In Ramona? These three boys are solving the prob- lem with a pick and shovel. Our other answers were to slow down when driving over these bumps, (perhaps a little more logical, and much easier done!) 155 Sadie Hawkins Day This year just happened to be a leap year. Leap years February 29 is the day when the girls do the asking. This Sadie Hawkins Day many girls asked their favorite guy out. There was an El Ano Dance that night. Both the day and evening were full of fun and there were no complaints from the guys. 156 Ski Club This is one of the newest clubs at the High School. They worked well together. Head coach Bill Tambur- rino kept the team alive and working hard. Due to the abundance of rain, many of the games had to be can- celed. Outstanding players were Rosy Kalabsa, Lollie Troutt, Dobbie DeSte- fani, and LeAnne Lapp. All of these girls contributed to the team both of- finsively and defensively. The J.V. team was coached by Lou Ann Barnes, while she was preparing the team with new skills and ideas. Whatever the technique is, try not to let any one catch on. 164 Trainers Ramona High School has added Trainers to the Sports program. Mr. Bill Bevill has been dedicated in wrapping ankles, and just being there in case of an emergency Students, Sharon Young, Leslie Dt0 bil, and Shelly Boggus also helped. With a Dedicated coach, Paul Drob, the boys have been placed where they will excell and their team will make a strong show- ing in the Avocado League. Returning players Pete Cesarini and Pat Stockalper, will be playing singles and Chris Donham and Matt Cesarini will be playing doubles. 168 169 Tennis With lack of experience, this year was a building one. There was only one returning player and only two seniors. Rose Ka- labsa was the biggest asset, playing singles, this was her first year playing tennis and she made it all the way to CIF finals. Next year looks like a good one, with a little more experience un- der our belt. The coach was Paul Drob. Mem- bers like Tay Me Donald, Glenn Wil- liams, Steve Enos, John Coulter, Rick Edwards, Dan Scherer, and Danny Miller exhibited both talent and spir- it. The Bulldogs displayed the colors ot Blue and White with pride. They worked hard to finish high in the league. RHS track has spirit and pride. 172 173 Boy’s Track The Boy’s JV and Freshmen teams had a large turn out this year. The coach, Jim Hunter, taught the teams early how to build stamina and use the proper techniques. Hard work was a re- quirement and the boys put it out. The things that they do to you! Any electronic machine hap- pens to know all about you. The pay telephone happens to know when you’re on your last dime, It’s the only time it eats it. When you want the regular Pepsi but know you need the diet one (and you press the diet button) it will always send the regular one out because it knows Fat people come back more often. Don’t let any of this get you down, remember that some- one really cares, why else would they make such a machine. Vending Machine 178 All Of Us Are .. Very Important People 79 Volleyball The Ramona High Girls Varsity Volleyball team is coached by LouAnn Barnes, who seems to do doing a tine job. This year was a building year with a lack of ex- perience and playing time. The girls had two wins and ten losses. The team feels next years season will be a great one! Next year all the players are return- ing, with the exception of Lollie Troutt, who put in a fine year. The awards this year went to Dobbie DeStefani, Most Valuable Player and Lollie Troutt, Capt. The team was coached by Frank Lucio, a new-comer to RHS, but not to Wresting. The boys developed their skills and their crafti- ness is what makes Ramona such a strong contender. Outstanding atheletes in this sport, Keith Dalton, Paul Goslin, Eric Ivers, Chris DeLong, Sean Acheson, and Wayne Carrigan demonstated vim and vigor usually pinning their opponent. Mike Jorden assisted in Wresting by coaching the J.V. team. With the ex- perience gained in the early years these boys will make fine varsity can- didates. 182 1. The beginning of a match 2. This is where you go to stand in long lines, and have a “stupid” machine get stuck with papers and run out ot paper just when you get to it. Al though I just don’t know how the school would get along without it. 185 Yearbook Staff The 1979-1980 El Ano Staff tried to do the best job as possible, with all possi- ble things going wrong.
