The girl earning the most money wins the title. Beside the yearly bakesales and car washes, this year’s candidates chose new methods to earn money, such as airplane rides, raffles, and posing as mannequins in clothing store win- dows. Being the first year of organiza- tion, the staff encountered difficul- ties, mainly lack of printing facilities, and an adequate budget. The efforts, spending many extra hours doing things by hand and earn- ing money, well rewarded. The Ramona Hi Life can compete success- fully in quality with any school news- paper. Along the line of entertainment some of the favorite assemblies were the talent show, introducing a variety of students to the faculty and student body, the Christmas show, involving the modern dance classes and the musical groups, and the light show, combining popular music with color. The team was spearheaded by a swarming aggressive defense and an offense that featured a punishing ground game and a clutch passing attack. With the returning of only two let- termen, seniors Dave DeLong and John Klema, the youth of the team was obvious. None-the-less, enthusi- asm was quite abundant. Baseball In the wake of the new league, the junior varsity baseball team has proved that enthusiasm is a major fac- tor in holding a good team together. This enthusiasm is said to be attrib- uted to coach Tamburrino’s attitude on the game of baseball. Under the tutelage of David Rice as assistant coach, the team’s funda- mentals increased greatly. The pitching staff consisted of Greg Gatewood, Flavio Garcia, Kevin French, and Steve Slocum. In the out- field Matt James, and Jose Ramirez showed potential as future varsity prospects.
