Before the game, the town was booming with the yells of the girls who were piled in the back of trucks. This year the juniors used two trucks because of the overwhelming number of girls that partici- pared. Both the juniors and Seniors were totally disallusioned until out of the dark cloudy night came the boy cheerleaders to cheer the two teams on. Even though they lost this year, thejuniors are awaiting a victory over next year's-Iuniors. This year's theme for the floats was Bigger and Better Things, Everyone worked very hard and the competition was tough. The outcome of the judges' decision was anxiously awaited. All those gathered for the parade were glad to see the clouds disappear and the sun shine brightly on the parade. Seniors' first place float fabovej, Sopho mores' third place float Crightj. Varsigf Football The 1974 football season can best be described as a very emotional year. The team was relatively inex- perienced besides it being Ramona's first year in the Coast League. For a team that has competed in the C.I.F. playoff in the Mt. League for the past three years, it was a new experience coming off with a 0-9 record. For Coach VanZant it was a year of uncertainty, a year of freakish accidents. For the Sophomores and juniors on the team, it was a year of leaming and preparing for next year when they will once again have a chance at C.I.F. To the Seniors, it was a year of heart break, a year of leaming to accept defeat, but never giving up . . . always trying. It was a year of hope - hoping for that elusive touchdown. Finally, on November 15, the team scored 6 points against San Diegiuto. This was a rewarding moment, for a team who deservingly had the right to give up. But no, Ramona High was always ready to try. And isn't trying what it's all about? Running Backs and Defensive Backs ftop left and bottom leftj Lineman - Offense and Defense ftop right and bottom rightj. N. Unfortunately, the competitive Coastal League was standing right there ready to shake up the hopes of Ramona High, but this team was really prepared to put up a fight. Even with the stiff competition of the Coastal League they compiled a two, six and one record. The student body seemed unprepared to support basketball after our football team's heart breaking season. It was a definite disappointment after the Bulldogs, accomplishments for three years prior. This lack of interest by the student body may have led to what was termed a lack of desire to win by the team. Others will say the problem stemmed from the fact that we were a small,' team, however, no one reason could have been precisely cited. At times they played with the desire and emo- tion evident in only great teams, other times they played apathetically. It can proba- bly be explained only as a combination of personnel, circumstances, and oter intangi- ble reasons. But the Ramona Basketball team of 1975 should not be remembered for their problems but for their accomplishments. They are well worth noting and this should be remembered as a team of talent, not of dissent. 120 ' 'A 32 , f?-r't'i12liW 'et1' ,J , f Z., -- -' . v ' , in f . .. ., T ' t,... ff .. f,,1 ,V ., ff ' K .fi 1 Q YV .. ia 5' 1 I - X .F . 37' 3 'X l y : - ' gy 1gf .' g z ' ,.t Bulldogs gather for a quick conference CTop Lefty Eddie Anderson blocks our opponent fFar Leftj. That seems true, because this year's team consisted only of freshmen and Sophomores competing against juniors and Seniors from bigger schools. We started the season right by defeating Army-Navy 16-45, a neat sweep. But then things went downhill as the competition got tougher. Coach Hunter then entered the Freshman team into the Mt. Sac. Invita- tional CSan Antonio Collegej in the Frosh and Soph. Division. They came home with a third place trophy. Next year's team will be stronger as many 8th graders show an interest in the sport and are expected to help out in the 75-76 season. ls Qu J-.r,f,. .Vg N ixil-M225 q .mfr X X I ,K xr- Ny?-fr.
