The 1970's will easily be years that challenge the intelligence and judgment of our people. Inflation, rising prices, the War in Asia, the situation in the eastern Mediterranean, unemployment, and use of drugs are some of the most disturbing problems We must face in the 1970's. Unemployment is probably the most serious domestic problem that faces the nation. Many students on our high school campus today will be associated with the following: Last Hired - First Fired. These will be the uneducated and unsldlled. Because of a poor educational back- ground, they are the ones Who cannot compete in a tight labor market. The lack of education is a tragedy for the individual. But society also pays the price of failure, for it is the school drop-out who is most likely to be on Welfare or in a jail cell, This nation cannot afford so large a number of its young people to become so disadvantaged. I urge every student on our high school campus to seriously consider what the future has in store for him. Not only stay in school, but learn While in school. To the senior class of 1971 you will soon find out that the educated move forward. Superintendent George A. Childress Mr. George A. Childress has for three years now been the administrative leader of our school district, Mr, Childress came to Ramona from Oregon, where he had been Superintendent for ten years. Before working in Oregon, he spent seven years at the Winters School District as Superin- tendent and three years as Assistant Superintendent and Super- intendent at Pismo Beach. This industrious man started his teaching career in 1937 in Oklahoma, He holds a Bachelors and a Masters Degree, along with General Elementary and Secondary Teaching Credentials, ...ww and a Elementary and Secondary Administrative Credentials, Ramona is indeed very lucky to have such a vigorous Work- er as Mr, Childress to head their affiars. ink.. f i w School Board This year's School Board was headed by President Robert DeLong, Among their many duties is to appropriate money for our school district, hiring teachers and other help, and making out our rules and regulations.
