Childress We live in a changing world where few absolute guidelines and standards will remain the same. In order that we may become effective citizens and to achieve a high degree of success and happiness we must adapt to challenges and requirements of further changes . Many facts that we assumed as true a decade ago are no longer true and much of what we know as facts today will become obsolete in another decade. The one real con- stant that we lmow today is that tomorrow can, and probably will, be different. To meet the demands and uncertainties that tomorrow will bring will require a true sense of value, adequate standards and the willingness to accept changes as they evolve. Our hope is that We, the staff of Ramona High School, have been of assistance in your preparation to develope a deep commitment to the virtues and potentials of our free society. In this endeavor we have tried and will continue to try as other classes and other students take your place in future years . Now that you, the class of 1970, leave this school and take the step into our chang- ing world We offer each our best wishes for the future. You have the ability and the desire to succeed. Use them well and with pride. George A . Childress AMe55age From T. ill Education is both the foundation and the unifying force of our democratic way of life - it is the mainspring of our economic and social progress - it is the highest expression of achievement in our society, enabling and enriching human life. In short, it is at the same time, the most profit- able investment society can make and the richest reward it can confer. -- President, John F. Kennedy Students , as you graduate and go forth from Ramona High School I sincerely hope that your years of study here will somehow provide you with the necessary dedication, patience , understanding and appreciation of the democratic way of life . Also, I hope that your high school education will strengthen your moral and mental sensitivity to the great issues that face our nation. It is time we take democracy out of the bleachers and place it on the playing field. As you Seniors leave campus this year, take with you your rights but don't forget to take along your responsibilities . Remember that the right way is not always the easy way. Congratulations, good luck, and best wishes as you go forth to make your mark in life. Sincerely, Myron H. Bill Mrs . During our Freshman and Sophomore years we learned every crack, detour and detail of the old High School. Now, as the second class to graduate from our new school, we look back on many exciting memories. We went through the usual embarrassment of initiation a.nd got our revenge the following year. Our first dance was a complete success, and we were recognized by the student body. This was quite an accomplishment for a Freshman class. One of our most memorable floats was a huge wave with the title, Happiness Is A WipeOut , which it was. Somehow our Homecoming floats always seemed to man- age a consistent third or fourth place. In order to raise money for our prom, we held bake sales in which the boys out sold the girls. Gur Prom theme, Passage to India, and decorations were un- usual and original, Also as Juniors, we put on the annual Talent Show. The Boys' Fashion Show was a big hit with all present. The girls had as much fun preparing them for it as the boys had participating in it. As Seniors we became more important than ever before, We ruled over the Sen- ior Lawn, went through the excitement of senior pictures, and tried to make deci- sions about college. Some of us missed a few days legally because we had mis- sed a few days illegally. We have all long-awaited graduation. The time to leave has comeg it has come too soon for some of us. During his first year at Ramona he has greatly improved the band. As a result of his sincere efforts a new pep band and a lively brass quartet have been organized. This energetic man has made our band, which is rather small into one of the most dynamic bands in the county. We thank you Mr. Cleveland and we hope you will remain head of our music department for a long time. 7 Jan Beck, Twirler, Lana Smith Majorette. As for appearances they have been awarded trophies for their skilled marching in such parades as Julian Apple Days. Among Miss Storjohann's credits this year is the organization of a girls track and gymnastics team. All the girls greatly appreciate her dedication which has created so many activities for them. The Student Council is the governing body of the school. It consists of, the executive board of the A,S, B. , the President of each class, and the representative of each club. The Student Council meets to decide on matters the A, S, B, has proposed. They are the students' voice in deciding matters that will affect them. They attend the meetings and then return to their class or club and report the findings of the meeting. While they do this the A. S. B. works on passing through the administration the legislation the student body has approved. During the school year of 69-70, they have been working on revising the constitution and improving our school for the benefit of all students. Through the Student Council our school and its people are brought closer to the things that affect their way of life on campus. utwfe Homemafiers 0 771672612 Front Row, left to right: Mrs. Anderson, Advisorg Darlene Nunez, Debie Hill, Andrea Mordecai, Peggy Donahue, Niki Semenick. The last time we reached that goal was in 1960. Pre-season games were not as successful as we might have hoped, but the Bulldogs proved their greatness with a never-failing flow of overwhelming league victories. Next year's outlook is very promising as Ramona will have twelve returning lettermen. To All Parents Edgar A. Guest I'11 lend you a little child of Mine . He said, For you to love the while he lives and mo , It may be six or seven years, or twenty-two or three, But will you, till I call him back, take care of him for Me? He'l1 bring his charms to gladden you, and shall his stay be brief You' ll have his lovely memories as solace for your grief. I cannot promise he will stay, since all from Earth return, But there are lessons taught down here, I want this child to learn I've looked the wide world over in my search for teachers true, And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes, I have selected you. Now will you give him all your love, nor think that labor vain, Nor hate Me when I come to call and take him back again. I fancied that I heard them say: Dear Lord, Thy will be done. For all the Joy Thy child shall bring, the risk of grief We'll run. We'll shelter him with tenderness, we'll love him while we may And for the happiness we've known forever grateful stayg But shall the angels call for him much soonerthat we've planned, We'll brave this bitter grief that comes and try to understand.
