Aridrew Fanning Engineering Dept. LC PO, E T T Leader enior Clricl' Petty OI'licerAndrew P. Fanning, born in Peoria, Illinois, graduated from Illinois Valley Central High School in May of 1987. He entered the Navy via Recruit raining Command, Orlando, Florida in June of 1987. He attended Nuclear Field EM A School, Nuclear Power School, and Nuclear Prototype from August 1987 to Novem- berl988. He arrived aboard the SARATOGA CCV-603 in December 1988 as aThird Petty Officer. and was soon promoted to Second Class Petty Officer. While on SARATOGA, he qualified Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist and Electrician's Mate of the Watch tLoad Dispatcherb. In June of 1993, he was promoted to First Class Petty Ofiicer before transferring to Shore Intermediate Maintenance Activity CSIMAQ, Charleston, South Carolina. While acting as R-3 Repair Parts Petty Officer, he became a Motor Rewinder, Inside Electric Shop Journeyman, and Outside Electric Shop Journeyman. C A i'rvG1rv15151e1rvf,' LCPO dt T OP SNIP1 He transferred to USS THOMAS S. GATES QCG-511 upon closure of SIMA Charleston in October 1995. While on the THOMAS S. GATES, he attained his Engineering Officer of the Watch letter and performed his duties a Leading Petty Officer for E Division until being pinned as a Chief Petty Officer in September 1999. In May 2000, Chief Fanning became an Instructor at EM HA School, Great Lakes, Illinois, and became EM A Schools Course Supervisor in June 2001. Chief Fanning became a Master Training Specialist, Contracting Officer Representative, Testing Ofncer, Drug and Alcohol Program Advisor, and Treasurer for the EMXIC Chief Petty Officer Mess. He attained his certification as Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Specialist from the College of Lake County. ln May 2004, he was se- lected as a Senior Chief Petty Officer and soon received orders to the USS RAMAGE CDDG-615. He arrived to RAMAGE, in Septem- ber 2004, as E Division LC PO and his current assignment is Engineering Department LCPO and is also the Engineering Training Team Leader. Senior Chief Fanning's awards include Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medal Csix awardsj, Good Conduct Medal Cfive awardsj, as well as various campaign awards and unit citations. Senior Chief Fanning is married to the former Rayjena Emmerich of Chillicothe Illinois. They have three children, Rhianna, Jared, and Meghan. They currently reside in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Malieridra Soogrini MP Division LCPO, Engineering Top Snwe 1 A enior Chief Petty Officer Mahendra Soogrim is a native of Trinidad and Tobago. He graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School, Bronx, New York in 1989. He entered the Navy in July of 1992 graduating in September 1992. In October 1992, he transferred to Service School Command, Great Lakes, IL and graduated from Gas Tur- bine Systems Technician fElectricalj HA School in May 1993. In June 1993, he left for Charleston, South Carolina and reported to the USS ELROD CFFG-553 as a Gas Turbine Systems Electrical Technician Fireman. In February 1997, he transferred to the USS BARRY CDDG-525 as a Second Class Petty Oiiicer and served as Work Center Supervisor for work center EM04. He qualified as Engineering Officer ofthe Watch and Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist. In March 2001, he reported to SIMA, Norfolk, as a First Class Petty Officer, where he served as the Production Supervisor for the Gas Turbine Repair Shop. In June 2004, he reported to USS RAMAGE CDDG-611 where he is currently assigned as Main Propulsion Division Lead- ing Chief Petty Officer and is the Engineering Department Top Snipe, as well as the ETT Coordinator. GSCS CSWJ Soogrimis personal decorations include Navyf'Vlarine Corps Achievement Medal ffour awardsi, Meritorious Unit Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. fSWJ Soogrim is married to the former Veronica Eileen Garrigan of Brooklyn, New York. Santos attended the Recruit Training Command CRTCD and Service School Command CSSCJ at Great Lakes, Illinois in l978, where leted Basic Training and Engineman CENJ Class A School. He was then the Auxiliary Floating Drydock Medium 8 CAFDM-85 at the Ship Repair Facility C1979-815. During his tour at SRF, he was promoted through the ranks to Petty Officer. pon completion of his tour at SRF, he transferred to the USS PROTEUS AS-19 he took on the responsibilities as the Machinery Division Career Counselor X Training Officer CCCXTPOD for over l25 personnel. He was challenged and took the l 3-M Coordinator as a Second Class filling a Chief's billet, where 3 work centers and 5 repair shops. During his tour he graduated from EN Class 'GC General Motors CGMJ Diesel Engine Technician with honors. Next, he headed to receive training as a Correctional Specialist prior to duties at the US Lakes, IL C1983 875. There he qualified as Security Section Leader and later Department. . Prior to returning to sea,,he attended EN Class HCP School, FFG-7 Auxiliary Systems X Sub-systems Pipeline. CWO4 Santos then reported to USS HALYBURTON FFG-40 C1987-925 as the Auxiliaries Division Leading Petty Officer CLPOJ. During his toufrgonboard, completed Recovery Assist, Securing and,Traverse CRASTJ Mechanical Technician School, Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist,,CESWSJ and Engineering Officer of the Watch CEOOWJ. He was also selected as Sailor of the Year and was promoted to Chief Petty CWO4 Santos received orders to Surface Warfare Officer School CSWOSJ Command, Newport, RI C1992-955 as an instruction in the leaf! Diesel Division, Engineering Department. While at SWOS, he qualified as a Master Training Specialist CMTSJ and was promoted to Senior Chief Petty Officer. 0 L f I p L gg . After SWOS, he reported to USS NICHOLAS C1995-985. He was the Engineering Departmental Leading Chief Petty Officer CLCPOJ and was selected for the Chief Warrant Officer CCWOJ Commissioning Program. After his commissioning CWO4 Sa tos, C Commander Navy Region M1d5Atlantic CCNRMAJ C2000-025 as the Service Craft Materials Inspector. Next he orders to the USS , CAPE ST GEORGE CG-7l C2002f04j where he was the MPA, Auxiliaries Officer CAUXOJ, and then the Ship ryramtenance Material Officer CSMMOJ. Heading back to shore duty he worked at the Center for Naval Engineering CCNEQ C2004-05j:ifi7Cu1rently he is to the USS RAMAGE CDDG6lQ C2005-Presentj as the MPA, SMMO and Quality Assurance Officer CQAOJ. fi reported to the USS MONTEREYCCG-61 C1998-20001 as the Main Propulsion Assistant CMPAJ.
