Command Master Chief Gerald M. Coulson, CMDCM March 2006 - Present 'W Gerald J. Coulson was born November 28, cu 1962 in Irwin, Pennsylvania. Graduating from Norwin Senior High School in 1982, he entered the Navy under the delayed entry program on December 31, 1981. On October 12, 1982, he reported to Naval Training Center, Great Lakes for basic training. Upon completion of basic, he reported to Aviation Support Equipment Maintenance Technician class '6A', school in Millington, Tennessee. sMaster Chief Coulson reported to his first command USS DUBUQUE CLPD-85 on 17 Sept 1983, in San Diego, California. After completing a Western Pacific deployment, the ship switched homeport to Sasebo, Japan. In September of 1986, he transferred to Naval Air Station ,Whidbey Island, Washington, assigned to Aviation Intermediate V at Maintenance Department QAIMDJ, Support Equipment Division. He then transferred to NAS Adak, Alaska, AIMD in June 1990. His promotion to chief petty ofiicer, in 1993 was the highlight of this tour. His next assignment took him to NAS Lemoore, California in May 1994, he reported to AIMD Support Equipment Division. In November of 1997, he transferred to USS CARL VINSON CCVN 705 in Bremerton, Washington, where he served as IM4 Support Equipment LCPO. He completed a Pacifrc!Arabian Gulf deployment in 1999. He promoted to Senior Chief Petty Officer during this tour. From June 2000 through March 2003 he was assigned to NRD Seattle. He served as Zone Supervisor for the State of Alaska, the nation's largest recruiting zone. After completion of the Navyis Senior Enlisted Academy in May of 2003, he reported to the USS ENTERPRISE CCVN 651 as IM-4 Division Officer, completing a Mediterranean!Arabian Gulf combat deployment in 2004. He promoted to Master Chief Petty Officer during this assignment. In April of 2006, he accepted the position of AIMD Leading Chief Petty Officer and transferred to the USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER CCVN 695. During this rewarding tour, Master Chief Coulson selected for the Command Master Clgef Program Master Chief Coulson reported aboard USS RAMAGE QDDG 611 as Command Master Chief in Feb 2007. 1 Executive meer John Barrett, Oct. 2005 - Present c j I Z Barrett is a native of Arlington Heights, Illinois and D 1991 graduate of Marquette University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. His initial division officer assignment was aboard USS THOMAS C. HART CFF 10925 where he served as Electronic Material Officer. Following HART's decommissioning, he was next assigned to USS ARTHUR W. RADFORD QDD 9685 and served as Communications Officer and First Lieutenant. CDR Barrett next joined the staff of the Commander-in-Chief, US Naval Forces Europe, where he served in the Operations Directorate as Asst. Special Programs Officer, Asst. Surface Ops Officer, and Flag Briefer. While in London, CDR Barrett completed a Masters of Science degree in International Business from Boston University. '1 Following graduation from Department Head School, CDR Barrett reported to USS DAVID R. RAY CDD 9715 home ported in Everett WA where he served as Operations Officer. While aboard, he participated in PACMEF 99- 2, and coordinated the scheduling and execution of RAY's complete training cycle for her upcoming deployment. His second department head assignment was aboard USS CAPE ST. GEORGE CCG 711 as Operations Officer. While aboard, CAPE participated in two consecutive BALTOPS exercises in the Baltic Sea, the Royal Navy's Joint Maritime Course QJMCJ in the North Sea, and Joint Combat Interoperability Experimentation and Testing CJCIETJ Exercise along the Gulf coast of Mississippi. CDR Barrett next reported to the staff of Commander, Cruiser-Destroyer Group THREE as Flag Secretary in September 2002, arriving aboard the flagship six weeks into their historic 9 Z month combat deployment. While embarked aboard USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN, he participated in Operations ENDURING FREEDOM, SOUTHERN WATCH and IRAQI FREEDOM. CDR Barrett also served concurrently as acting Flag Aide to the Commander for ten months of this tour. In July 2004 CDR Barrett reported to the Army's Command and General Staff College in Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas, ghere he completed Joint Professional Military Education phase I, and earned a Master's degree in Military rstory. Change of Command i On ll February, 2007, CDR Randell W. Dykes, USN, assumed command of USS RAMAGE as Commanding Officer from CDR James Dick, USN. CAPT Franken, Commodore Destroyer Squadron 28, presided over the morning festivities which included a steal-beach picnic on the starboard amidships quarterdeck. CAPT Davis Commanding Oflicer, USS VELA GULF, a mentor to CDR Dick was the honored guest. CDR Dick was RAMAGE's 7th Commanding Officer, and will be remembered well by all who served under him.
