Pnnro colvrfsr In order to insure the crew the best cruise book possible, the staff ran two photo contests: one for color pictures and one for black and white. To keep the contest judging fair, the names of the judges were kept secret and the following rules were set down: 15 Pictures must pertain to this cruise. 25 Pictures must be between 35 x SSW' and 4 x 4 in size. 35 Pictures must be submitted to the cruise book staff by 5 August 1972. 45 No limit on the number of entries. The contest was judged by three people: Ens. T. McCarriar, Ens. Kubacki, and ETR3 Blauvelt. The pictures were laid face up on a table and judged on subject interest matter, composition, and technical quality. First prize in each contest was a S25 savings bond. Second and third place in each was a free cruise book. The six winning photos are on the next two pages.
