I'M TOLD QUITE DIRECTLY: HE'S EVERYTHING BAD! THOUGH I FIND THIS OPINION IS RATHER WIDESPREAD - I SHOW MY CONTEMPT WITH A TOSS OF MY HEAD. UNDAUNTED BY EVEN THE MOST TREACHEROUS GLANCE, STAUNCH AND ASSURED, I HOLD TO MY STANCE. WITH MUCH INDIGNATION INOT A MOMENT I'LL WAITI TO RETORT WITH CONVICTION: ' 'HE'S EVERYTHING GREAT! I SET NO LIMITS IN MY VERBAL FIGHT TO DEPICT THE SAILOR IN A FAVORABLE LIGHT. HE'S THE PICTURE OF STRENGTH IN HIS NAVY BLUE SUIT - AND WITH HIS COCKY WHITE HAT - LOOKS BOTH MANLY AND CUTE. SO MAYBE HE'S WILD? ISHOW ME A CIVILIAN THAT'S NOT!! YET NONE MATCH THE APPEAL THAT THE NAVYMAN'S GOT. HE'S LIBERTY-MINDED? WELL, WHO WOULDN'T BE AFTER NIGHTS OF DUTY OR WEEKS AT SEA? NO CONSCIENCE OR MORALS? I PROTEST ONCE AGAIN! IS AN OCCASIONAL GOOD TIME A THING TO CONDEMN? ALWAYS IN TROUBLE? I CAN'T AGREE. MUCH OF THE TIME HE'S PROTECTING OUR SEA. HE'S ILL-MANNERED AND RUDE? SURELY YOU JEST! HE'S POLISHED AND SUAVE WHEN PUT TO THE TEST! A GIRL IN EACH PORT? A LINE A MILE LONG? TO THIS ALL I'LL SAY IS: ' 'I HOPE THAT YOU'RE WRONG!
