Teenagers of the Week Richard Spore and Laura Hollandsworth Richard Spore and Laura Hol- landsworth were selected by the lac- ulty to represent Raleigh Egypt as Teenagers of the Week. This contest is sponsored by the Memphis Press- Scimitar and includes city and county high school students. Richard has received many honors this year in addition to being Teen- ager of the Week. His fellow seniors voted him Most Likely to Succeed and he is one of fifteen outstanding seniors selected by the faculty. lle has also received recognition for his academic standing from Who's Who Among American High School Stu- dents, America's Outstanding Names and Faces, and the Society of Distin- guished American High School Stu- dents. Because of his high score on the SAT, he was named National Merit Semi-Finalist. Richard has served the school through being President of the Key Club and play- ing football all four years. Pre-Law is the ambition of Richard Spore and he plans to attend either Southwest- ern at Memphis or Sewanee. Laura has been very active in many areas of school life. She has co-edited this annual for the past two years. was Commissioner of Student Council Activities last year. and is Senior Class Homeroom Coordinator this year. Laura was named Aca- demic Achiever during her sopho- more and iunior years and is the Superior Scholar in English as a sen- ior. She is also an Outstanding Sen- ior, Who's Who Most Dependable and Most Likely to Succeed, and has also been named in Who's Who Among American High School Stu- dents. Church activities consume much of Laura's time for she is active in her Youth Fellowship at Ever- green Presbyterian Church and is a member of the Memphis Presbytary Youth Council which plans events for junior and senior high students in and around Memphis. Laura also studies piano and participates in local and statecompetitions. 199

Congratu- lations, Richard and Tony. . N fe .9 saws . zoo Girls' State: Laura Hollandsworth and Governor Ruth Henry Ruth Henry and Laura Hollandsworth were the Girls' State participants from Raleigh Egypt. They both attended a week long study on state government. During the course of the program. Ruth ran for governor of Girls' State and was elected to represent over five hundred girls of Tennessee. She was also selected as one of Ten- nessee's Girls' Nation Delegates. Both girls hen- efited from this experience. and Raleigh Egypt is truly honored to have the Governor a part of its life. TL
