Quill and Scroll is an honorary soci- ety of high school journalism organ- ized to encourage and reward individ- ual achievement in journalism and related fields. To become a member a student must be either a junior or sen- ior. and must be in the upper third of his or her class in general scholastic standing. In addition. the student must have done superior work in some phase of journalism fschool newspaper or annualj and must be recommended by the sponsor of the publication. The Raleigh-Egypt chapter of Quill and Scroll was founded in the spring of 1975. It currently has 15 members taken from the SPHINX and the SCROLL staffs . The crite- ria for selection are superior academic achievement and evidence of leader- ship qualities. At the end of the year, two finalists are chosen, and they receive awards. ga.
