“SENIOR CLASS HISTORY Twelve ye rs ago 1934 even before the paint had dried on the walls of the new school bu ldmg lght little offsprmgs of the town s leading c1t1zens entered the portals of thts mighty 1wst1tut1on The m1schevious group of 7 boys a.nd l girl namely Alton Erdahl Raymond Pu kley Herman De Groth Elwood Toft Thomas Heath Carroll Sunde Harold Lund at 3 Beverly Sorenson were referreed by M1ss Bliss1e for the flrst year With a httle coa hmg they were all promoted to 2nd grade Ramond Buckley Herman De Groth and Al ton Erdahl moved away and were replaced by Cla1re Olson a.nd Robert Lund Miss Pl1ss1e offmciatlng Our th1rd year in the grades brought us three new grrls Bonna Legmed Marion Kissel and Grace Sorlien and also a new teacher Miss Hazel Hanson Cla1re Olson left us in the th1rd year Alyce Okland Lorene Knutson a.nd Helen Jacobson got tired of country school and Joined us for our fourth year with M1ss Wilma Larson at the desk We all passed on to 5th grade under Miss Ruth Luzum Beverly Sor enson moved to greener pastures Where she remained until the call for Freshmen in Rake Hlgh School brought her back Verna Varland joined our pack at th1s tlme also The same students carried on from 6th through 8th grade Miss Koltvet took charge of 6th grade and Mr Walle coaxed us through '7th and 8th We kicked our way into Hlgh school and slouched our way through 1n1tiat1on to be come full fledged Freshmen, members of R H S Everrett Matson Arlean Hove Beverly Sorenson Arlet Lmrn Maxme Hoveland Vernon Jacobson joined the tr1be and made us a total of 15 members As Sophomores we had two cases of dropsy, Everrett Matson qult thinklng he knew it all and Maxme Hoveland betng attracted w1th a serlous case of scar let fever The Iunior year brought about many eventful happenmgs A whopper of a cl ass play 'O Promise Me went off all members part1cipat1ng The banquet was also a great success the theme being a Dutch Garden Alyce Okland left us for one year a.nd Betty Havnen joined the crew Beautiful days ushered in 13 sparkling semors Grace Sorlien falled to return and Verna Varland left us after a short period of attendance Also Harrlet Thomsen came down from Minnesota We're all planning on being 1n the Sen1or class play and w1ll begin as soon as the Iumors complete theirs One day U1 Aprll Cand no fOO11I1g, finds 13 absent seniors, but only for one day SKIP DAYIIlIWhere did We go? ?? ? What did we do? ? 'P What time d1d we get back? ? 'P ?We look ahead Wlth much pleasure to the events of the end of the year but are sad at the thought of H1gh School days bemg over and gone forever THE YOUTH OF TODAY IS THE DEMOCRACY OF TOMORROW SENIOR CLASS WILL We, the Senior Class of 1946 Rake High School Lmcoln tovnmshlp, Wmnabago County State of Iowa do hereby jointly and separately dedlcate the real and personal property to the following persons I Carroll ODean Bud Sunde, dedicate my ability to conduct class meetmgs to all future Senior Class presidents. My athletic abilit1es go to Omer Legmed in hopes that he will help carry the team to winning the state tournament next year. I, Beverly ODell Slim ' Sorenson hereby dedicate my class ring to Lyle Quam and Albert Sheldon to use jointly because I won t be needmg mine much and they have none for their senior year.
