A TIME FOR WORK These are the young years, the fruitful years when time means only the day after tomorrow. These are the years of wistful- eyed beings with tender dreams, but youth is brutal as well as tender, and youth is reality as well as a dream. 4 A TIME FOR PLAY A flower blooms and fades and blows away - and blooms again, according to the season; and in like manner youth exists from spring to spring, for to everything there is a time.  I 5 A TIME FOR VICTORY 6 VARSITY Hampered by many injuries the Columbians still came through with a 4-5 season. There were many problems which were encountered this year. If it would have been just lack of money we might have made it with few problems. But we were left in the hole several hundreds of dollars from years previous. Special thanks goes to all of those who worked on the money making projects and stuck with it. Many problems were caused by rumors and trouble makers. Some quit the staff and others worked to finish it. The ones who stuck with it and took all the guff of others are the real troopers. They are the ones whom you all can thank for this year's Emeraude. This year our school started a camera club. They should be recognized and thanked for all of their work and efforts. Granda Studios should also be mentioned for all of the pictures they took for us. Mrs. Lynda Thompson is this year's Emeraude advisor. She had been the advisor for three years and has worked very hard. When the people quit this year, she stepped in and helped to meet the deadlines. I wouldn't have made it without her to help as much as she did. If I have failed to mention someone it is not because your time and work was not appreciated. It was greatly as all are. But 1 have my last deadline to meet and I have to hurry. Sincerely and very gratefully, 1969 Emeraude Editor Peggy Burnham 106 BEST WISHES! THE OL’ PASTIME Rainier, Oregon Geoige V.
