RAINIER UNION HIGH SCHOOL Rainier, Oreqon Volume 37 In memory of our friends and classmates who have lost their lives, by drowning, in the Columbia River in the past two years we dedicate this annual. Those who know the river have long realized the uncertainty and danger of using the river as a playground. However, hot sum- mer days and relaxed supervision mean danger for carefree youth if no safe place is provided by their elders for recreation. We sincerely hope that the lives of these, our friends, have not been sacrificed in vain, but that those responsible for the wel- fare and safety of our youth will take action in providing the youth with adequate playground and swimming facilities. 2 f m m .-1 . r 1 I |r;V-v.v.,v « .: « ■ li 1 ' 1 1 1 1 w 5. r, U, ! I wonder what the old gang has been doing the past fifteen years? As I descend from my rocketship, in front of the Marsway Theater, I see Kaye Triplett and John Furer arriving in their neat cherry red, jet engine Spitfire. This theater is really nice. There's Carol Moholt and Phil Sherburne. Guess I'll walk over and ask them what they've been doing. Hello, Carol, Phil. What have you two been up to these days? I can answer that almost to the letter, Pat Allen cut in. They've been dictating to these poor Martians. Yeh, answered Alvin Roberts, and Pat and I are trying to put a stop to it, by leading a revolution. Yes, Phil snapped, and if it weren't for this reunion you'd be in jaill Someone is trying to get our attention. Better listen and see what they have to say. And I repeat, this invention will put Mars in the lead for the race to Saturn. Why that's Bob Everett. I better see what all this is about. Bobl what's this about an invention? Virginia Curtis and I have just finished an atomic spaceship, that we believe will take us to Saturn. That's very interesting. Well, I've got to run. See you around. I wonder what all the commotion is over there. I'd know that voice anywhere. It’s Sharon Cowles. I wonder who she's giving a piece of her mind to? It looks as if Dick Dreier, Cherry Barnett, and Harry Molosh are really getting told. I think I’ll listen for a minute. You three are just plain low. How could you be spies for this--forbidden place?” I see Kathy Kruegar and Sharon are still buddies. Kathy's saying something. I agree with Sharon, if you're going to be heroic; why not for the world you were born on, instead of this place? I think I’ll leave before Cherry starts to fight back. There's Judy Gaston and Kathy Canning, I just read in the Mars Green Paper about those two being the finalists in the Miss Mars contest. I also read on the society page about Gene Howell and Lee Marshall being the outstanding rocketship flyers. Speaking of Gene and Lee, there they arel I think I’ll ask them a question or two. Hi, therel How have you been? Just fine, Lee answered, Gene and I are celebrating our twelfth anni- versary. Well, congratulations! They sure are a nice looking couple. Guess I'll look around and see if I can find Larry Stennick and Ed Rosebraugh. There they are standing with H. E. Newkirk, Les Tipton, and Art Cheney. How have you fellows been? Oh, pretty good, Ed replies. What's this I hear about you five winning the Uni- versal Basketball Championship? That’s right, bragged H. E. , we really beat the socks off the other teams. Ladies and Gentlemen, may we have your undivided attention? This afternoon Lester Kahr and myself, and I'm sure you all know me, but just in case you don't, my name's Mary Rauch, and we are going to M. C. the entertainment for you. Now, let's get down to the entertainment. First we have that famous trio, the Marettes starring Judi Scholten, Kathy Bunting, and Zora Nesbitt singing, Where's This Place Called Saturn. Following that we have a duet by Carl Baker and Toby Elofson, playing The Flight of the Martian by Martha Hagerman and Rita Davis. Now, on with the show. This has really been an exciting day and I think you'll all agree with me; that was some reunion, but it really is going to feel good to get back on earth again. 32 BOB JOHNSON President Mikele Anderson Doyce Armstrong Katherine Beckham Joan Beltz Colleen Bentley Fern Breen Verland Cannon Compliments of Dr. Deaver Bross' Hardware, Rainier, Oregon VI LINDA THAYER Treasurer Mary Budge Lyn Chase Marie Combs Lorraine Dailey Judy Diedrich Linda Flamen Kenny Heflin Style Shop Kent Coulson Bob Edwards Russell Cowles Sandy Cramer Jerry Davis Kay Deal Jerry Everman Trudy Ellis Dorothy Forsyth Rosemary Janvrin Bob Furer Barbara Jenkins Mildred's Drive In Dave Grennon Jill Johnson Janet Kallunki Linda Mason - Charlotte Klein Ray Mosbrucker Bonnie Nicholas Caroline Pfaff o Ed Ridderbusch Carol Sanders Curry SI ay maker Dr. Richard M.
