He is known to all as our mechanical drawing instructor, a position he has ably held since 1926. No doubt, his greatest gift to the students is his philosophy, constant improvement. Perhaps no finer example of this can be found than in Mr. Dixon. Consistently applying the best of his abilities, he inspires his students to do their best work. Its purpose is to support school spirit and to encourage the building of better citizens. lt was organized a few years ago by a group of girls with the hope of increasing attendance, co- operation and interest in school activities. The activities of the club are planned at the weekly meetings. Some of the activities of the year were the Sadie Hawkins dances, trips, paper drives, cake sales, assemblies, and participating with cards at football games. The Junior Boosters are known by their camel hair blazers. WAWAWHACK The Wawawhack Staff edits the school newspaper that is published ten times a year. It is headed by four associate editors, Dianne Gordon, San- dra Henry, Susan Herold, and Yolanda Stoops. The Staff meets everyday and is under the direction of Mr. Louis Young- blood. We left at about 8:15 and after traveling over the N..I, Turnpike and Delaware Memorial Bridge we ate lunch in Elkton, Maryland. Upon reaching Washington, we visited the Washington Monument. When we returned to the hotel we were refreshed withice cream and cake before retiring. On March 7,1958, we began our sightseeing by visiting the Capital, Jefferson Memorial, the F,B.I. Building. After dinner some of the students went swimming at the Ambassador Hotel while the others attended the Playhouse Theater to see 'Wild is the Wind. We all met at a restaurant for a pizza party. On the way we stopped at Annapolis for a short time. Once again, we headed for home, tired but richer for our experience. The two leading scorers on the team were juniors Lynn Hayes and Tom McGuire. During the year fifteen school records were broken. This was more than the last four years combined. LIUEINH The C r o s s Country team, coached by Mr. James McKeon, had one of the most successful sea- sons ever recorded at Rah- way High School,compiling a record of seven wins and five losses. The co- captains, Ralph Steuer and Bob Smith, led the team by placing first and second in almost every meet. They finished 3rd and 4th in the copnty meet and placed in the top ten at the state meet. In March they attended the N, S, W. G, S. Twirling Clinic and Tournament, ln May, the Annual Band Concert provides another opportun- ity for the girls to perform. The final activity of the year is the Memorial Day Parade. 'Ball The vollyball tournaments are held each year in the gym' classes. Class teams compete in Round Robin style. Freshman, Sophomore, Jun- ior, and Senior girls participate in this activity and it is anxiously anticipated every winter by Rahway High.
