UH l0I Cl JJ Upon enterung Rahway Hugh School un l945 we were welcomed by our upper class mates who eagerly gave us musguudung unformatuon concernung the buuldung s layout Whule tryung un vaun to locate the fourth floor we met one another for the furst tume Whoever thought that some of our small Freshmen boys would be the school s outstandung athletes un l9497 The Freshman year was spent adaptung ourselves to the new surroundungs and formung many fruendshups We elected Edward Connors presudent Ruchard Archer vuce presudent Ethel Westervelt secretary and Sam Kosty treasurer to guude us through the year whuch came to a happy conclusuon wuth a gay Freshman Hop As Sophomores we took delught un musleadung the new Freshmen about the buuldung just as our predecessors had musled us Thus year a new mayor sport wrestlung was untro duced to the school The men of our class soon showed theur wrestlung abuluty by placung fuve out of ten varsuty men on the team The class felt honored when Barbara lean Wolfe was accepted unto the Unuversuty of Chucago The year ended happuly wuth everyone engoy ung humself at the Sophomore Hop Offucers durung the year were Roger Hone presudent Ruchard Archer vuce presudent Ethel Westervelt secretary and Sam Kosty treasurer We spent our junuor year hopefully dreamung cf some day becomung Senuors George urer helped us through thus long peruod One of our classmates Carol Shremp left us to attend the Unuversuty of Chucago In December a sports dance was held the proceeds of whuch were used to purchase gufts for our champuonshup football team T-'ue class treasury uncreased wuth a wonderful presentatuon of Peg O My Heart The funds from thus play made possuble our lunuor and Senuor Receptuon whuch possessed the charmung atmosphere of a harem The long awauted year funally arruved and the class of 49 prepared to make the most of uts funal year un Rahway Hugh School Offucers elected to lead the tasks ahead were C orge May presudent Sam Kosty vuce presudent Irene Popp s cretary and june Luedtke treasurer We were especually proud of our State Champuonshup football team because twelve of the lettermen were Senuors The S ntor play The Ghost Flues South was a hut just as we all expected ut to be Early un anuary the Allegarooter staff began uts umpor tant work of preparung thus Senuor year book Our many happy days nn Rahway Hugh came to a memorable endung wuth everyones enyoyung humself at the unuor Senuor Receptuon Our Baccalaureate Servuce was held un the audutoruum on june 5 and we left these halls for good on june 7 l l May, presidentp john Bodnar, vice-presidentg Irene Popp, secretaryg and Ann Miller, treas- . . . . . 9 .
