Asa teacher, we will remember her as taking a per¬ sonal interest in each student. As an Annual Staff Advisor, we will remember her as a very patient individual who gave so much of her time unselfishly. But most of all we will remember her as our friend. For this reason, we, the class of 1974 dedicate THE ECHO to Mrs. Vicki Norman. i a time to be born a time to die 4 Introduction j 1 I Introduction 5 6 Introduction Introduction 7 a time to mourn 'i'; l;'-'A‘-'t.'iJ']McG s?5 v. a time to dance Introduction 9 : • • -i a time to refrain from embracing a time to embrace 10 Introduction a time to keep a time to cast away , y. , OjLAjJUj..' By the time of the first game against High Point Central, only the forty most dedicated remained. After impressive victories over such foes as South¬ east Guilford, Western Guilford, and other area schools, Ragsdale emerged as the lone contender for post-season play in the Mid -State conference. After relatively easy victories over Southern Alamance and Central Cabarrus, the Flying Tigers met the Moun¬ taineers from Tuscola for the second consecutive year. Inspired by the memory of last year's loss, RHS defeated Tuscola and earned a trip to Elizabeth- ton for a confrontation with the Cougars of East Bladen for the state championship. A 16-16 tie brought the Tigers back to Ragsdale as NORTH CAROLINA STATE 3-A CO-CHAMPIONS. 62 Football 1973 Scoreboard RHS H.P. Central 20 34 Allen Jay 6 28 E. Alamance 0 53 S. Alamance , 6 48 W. Service 145 I SEN ORS I I Our lives are at this moment a reflection of Time's mirror — the hourglass. As we anticipate our career at RHS on our first day as sophomores, those days seemed as infinite as the hourglass's sands. How would they ever slip away and bring us to the height of success for which we yearne — being a senior and graduating. But those days have slipped through our fingers and each was as differ¬ ent and as special and as inevitable as those grains of sand. And as each day passed, it carried with it impressions of eternities of homework and hours of laughter with friends. It is the irony of Time that we wished for those days to pass as quickly as they have; but it is the gift of Time diat we may reverse the hourglass of our minds, and those days of striving, learning, and laughing can pass by once more as memories ... of RHS and the class of '74. The loud laugh betrays the vacant mind. Anon. . . . and if he ever finds out. Juniors 177 SOPHOMORES 1 8 Sophomores Bittersweet ... is the life of a sophomore. As always a new crop of sophomores plagues the up¬ perclassmen. Always underfoot, sometimes silly, and never quiet . . . but what would Ragsdale do without them! Each sophomore class seems to get larger and sophs are crawling out of the woodwork and classrooms and the cafeteria and the backhall. We'd have more assemblies and pep rallies, but there's just too many of them . Sophomores are at the bottom of the hill, and they have a long hard climb before them. But after they have reached the top and are looking back at all their days at RHS, they will wonder how it all slipped by so quickly.
