IN MEMORIAM ll. it MICHAEL RAY SHOOK June 17,1952 - August 9, 1968 What is life but an overture Of Immortality? A promise of a greater Symphony to come -- And some with young and Wavering fingers have plucked Those golden strings before The concert Master Ere other ears are tuned to Golden strains. The memory of the mortal Notes live on -- And life will echo the song Each left behind, And know the pride lies Not in all received But lives within the realm Of all each gave. -Miss Judy Plummer 18

'F WE THE SENIORS GRATEFULLY DEDICATE In an age of apathy, too few people have concern for one another. The person to whom the 1969 ECHO has been dedicated is characterized by his deep concern for his students. This teacher cares for the welfare and progress of those who study under him, and he is always willing to give aid and encouragement. His capacities for understanding and patience have helped everyone who has been in his classes. He gives of himself freely, and is friendly to all. One trait that has endeared him to all who have knownhimis his sharp sense of humor. His ability to laugh has cheered many gloomy days, and has made the mastering of difficult subjects easier to struggle through. He has the rare talent of being a friend and a respected adult at the same time. It is with a great amount of gratitude, pride, and pleasure that we, the Class of 1969, dedicate this annual to Mr. James Kenan, who has shown us that learning can be an enjoyable experience. 17

IN MEMO RIAM JAMES ALBERT LEDBETTER December 17, 1952 - November 5, 1968 The Lord is my shepherdg I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pasturesg he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soulg he leadth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evilg for thou art with meg thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemiesg thou anointest my head with oilg my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my lifeg and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. -Psalms 23 1 9
