Sterago To the Senior Claw of 1976: This past year has been a busy one for all of us- For some of us. it entailed interviewing for potential jobs, pursuing the idea of graduate school, or planning a future w ith that “special someone . For others, it entailed just existing for a reason that was sometimes hard to find. Yet. at this time, sse need to reflect on the past four years and lake stock of where ssr arc now. In a sense, we could think of the completion of the requirements for our undergraduate degrees as an end to one of the chapters in our own book of life. It seems that when we are about to close one phase of our lives and enter another, we are almost certain to receive a talk about what our generation has to offer to society—w hat a difference we can make. We may at some point want to slop and think about w hat we have to offer society but for the moment let us think about what we base gained here at Radford College that makes us worthy to continue. Remember the limes sse worked so hal'd logoi a particular grade in a certain class and how we fell when we did not receive that grade. What course of action did wc take follow ing this? How did this make a difference in our lives? Also, remember the limes we stood in line at registration only to discover that the class we desired was closed and we had to take another class. Do wc remember the difference that experience made in our lives? What about that dance we attended at firth? If we went with a dale, was that dale the one we really wanted to be with? If not. did this make a difference in our lives? When reflecting back on all our experiences here at Radford College, we can see changes in ourselves. Changes that have prepared us to confront the future. There are still many experiences that we have yet to encounter and wc want to be able to understand all of them. These experiences make us what wc are and we will continue to grow as individuals. I am glad that our paths crossed and that every member of our class inspired anolhrr class member in some w ay. Thank you for allowing me to serve you as your Class President this year. It made a difference in ms life. Wishing you fulfillment in all your endeavors. Looking for a better way of life, the first settlers paid their own passage to Virginia and even agreed to lalxir seven years for the investment companies which o|X‘rated to colonize North America. The early settlers were faced with many problems: Indian savages, a swampy environment infested with malaria-carrying mosquitoes, and a poor governmental system. America has its problems. Yet, it also has a governmental system which provides the people with a voice in solving these problems. In view of the upcoming presidential election, all Americans should remember the foundation upon which our government was initially laid: Government of the people, for the people and by the people. Especially, we the youth. Though eighteen year olds were granted the right to vote in June of 1971, records show that only a small minority of 18-2-J year olds exercise their voting rights.
