Hi People being creative ... 360 People being helpful ... People devoting themselves to others. 361 People being willing to give more than is expected ... and last but not least — People being friendly. 362 Whatever Radford College may become, it will always be people teaching, learning, sharing, and growing. 363 Too often words of praise are expressed only to the student leaders. While these students provide the concerned leadership for our student community, it is the student — who may never chair a committee meeting or whose name may never appear in the campus newspaper — to whom I want to express my gratitude, also. Often only the students whose voices are raised the loudest are heard. But it is the student “behind the scenes” who is the backbone of any campus community. You may often be described as apathetic, uncaring, or disinterested. I disagree with this. Life as a college student means different things to different people. Perhaps you were too busy getting a good academic education or playing a key role behind the scenes in a campus organization. Whatever the reason, it is the entire student body — not just a few — who go out to represent Radford College. Each one of you counts. During my first convocation at Radford College on March 23, 1972.1 asked that the forthcoming years be a time of “rededication and recommitment to Radford College. At that time our institution had fallen upon some difficult times. I believed then, and time has proven me out. that Radford College has an outstanding student body as well as an excellent faculty and staff deeply committed to the college and its future. These are exciting years at Radford College, and it is my hope that they are meaningful years for you as a member of the college community here. 364 To Cindi. Come To Me In Silence , published by Simon Schuster Cheval books 366 Editor’s Comments There is a certain amount of security in accepting what is. while at the same time a desire to see change occur. College is the preparation that we. the students, receive for the future. Although the knowledge we receive for life in the outside world comes from books, professors and incidents: the preparation involves quite a bit of experimentation, comparison and ambition on the part of the student. If there are no self-motivating factors, then the knowledge is useless. Radford College is a bridge to every individual here. A bridge from what was yesterday, to what will be tomorrow In contrast to our life span, the journey is short: in terms of knowledge amassed, about every aspect of life, the jour ney is well worthwhile and maybe at times not long enough. Fate, chance or luck, whatever the factors which brought us together yesterday, will separate us tomorrow Radford suffered a great loss this year in the resignation of two members of its professional staff. Mrs. Frank Hill, more affectionately known as Sue. resigned her position as Director of Alumni and Development, a position she held for 17 years Mr. Bill Semones. Director of Admissions, has our appreciation for taking Radford to the top of its charts in enrollment. Their personal friendships, and unending dedication to Radford will be greatly missed. The 1975 Beehive is finally finished. This time last year I thought is was all over as far as yearbooks and I were concerned. How wrong I was! Once more I attempted to play student, when, more times than not. I was wondering what I was going to do with this year's book. On this trip through fantasyland in preparing the Beehive for publication, many people went beyond human limitations to meet deadlines. My thanks to Kathy. Fran. Connie and Rosa for their help and patience. When a camera was needed. Dan’I. you were usually there, or sent a replacement. Besides my immediate staff, there are those people that I leaned on in times of need, or anger. Norma. Jack Cross.
