The Urban South — Crisis Now Dormitory discussion group. William J. Raspberry. John Q. Wilson. This symposium on one of our contemporary crises, the urlxan South, was held on Octolxer 11. The daylong symposium, sponsored by the Social Science Division of Radford College, was open to everyone. James Q. Wilson. Professor of Government at Harvard University, sjxokc alxout crime in the streets. Challenges and changes in urlxan education were discussed by John I). Webster, Assistant Director For Mental Health Training and Research of the Southern Regional Board. In the evening, William J. Rasplxerry, columnist for The Washington Post, spoke alxout urban negro problems. In each of these programs discussion and questions from the audience were invited. Student-faculty teams let! discussions in the recreation rooms of several dormitories, later that night. The day’s program was reviewed and further discussed. 26

Dr. Lall Is First Visiting Scholar The Visiting Scholar program of the University Center in Virginia brings distinguished speakers to the campus throughout the year. Our first speaker was Arthur I.all. professor of International Affairs at Columbia University. Dr. L—ill addressed students at Radford on Oct. 25. His topic was Communist China at the Negotiating Tabic . A native of India. Dr. Lall. was the Indian ambassador to the United Nations for five years. He also served as the governor to the International Atomic Energy Agency. Another Visiting Scholar during fall quarter was George Mvlonas, on Dec. 4. John Bonner spoke to the students here at Radford on March 5. Spring quarter, (dark Kerr. Margaret Bates, and Ernest Nagel delivered addresses. John T. Bonner.

Discussions arc lively and topics varied. CONTACT Becomes Bi-weekly This year a special effort was made to make CONTACT a bi-monthly program. CONTACT is an informal get-together sponsored by Student Life. It gives all members of the Radford College community a chance to meet and get to know one another bv opening lines of communications between faculty and the students.
