PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE Anything from addressing the the freshmen at Convocation... . . . to cheeking a leaky heater can occupy the time of a busy college president. This 1963-64 academic year at Radford College has brought change in many ways to this growing and complicated institution. Most all of those changes appear to 1h for the best and are but a part of the continuous growth of Radford. A very significant change in the administration of the college took place as the 196-1 Ceneral Assembly passed an act separating Radford College from Virginia Polytechnic Institute. The bill establishes a separate Board of Visitors for Radford College and upgrades this college as an independent, four-year, degree granting institution rather than a division of another college. While this is not the first time in its history that Radford has had its own board, it is the first time in twenty years that it has not been a division of another institution. This administrative separation, however, implies no change in the relationship of the two student bodies. The college continues to grow in the size of its physical plant and in the number and quality of its student body. During the next two years, the physical plant will have its greatest growth since the founding of the college. The student body will have a modest growth in numbers but should jump in quality. This Ixiok represents a history of this year’s student activities, but all the changes about us influence those who live ami study here. All the activity of administration, staff, and faculty is directed toward more profitable experience for Radford College students. As the college expands we are all striving together to enrich in every way the learning experiences available to us all. 24
