Although ho has oik- of tin- heaviest schedules on campus, Dr. Shelley is never 1ik» busy to discuss anything from the crisis in Viet Nam to a students rooming situation. Much time i' spent by Dr. Shelley in helping the senior choose her first fob. Since the future of any college ultimately depends upon the accomplishments of the students which it educates, the task of selecting students who will best fulfill the ideals of Radford College is not an easy one. The man on whom this responsibility falls is Dr. Marion 1 Shelley. For most of us, Dr. Shelley was our first friend at Radford College. We met him when he visited our high schools, and we discussed with him what we wanted from a college and what Radford College wanted from us. During the four years we have spent here we have found Dr. Shelley willing to answer any question (no mater how insignificant) or help with any problem (no matter how difficult). When wc met him in his office, at the Cove, or walking along the sidewalk, we knew that we could ask his advice on any subject; he made ns feel that our problems were his problems. Dr. Shelley, it is a pleasure and a privilege for the Senior Class to dedicate the 19( 4 BEE HIVE to you. 18

FOREWORD Perhaps the most striking element to ! e noticed about Radford College during the past few years is the activity found on all parts of the campus. From the ncwlv completed Moffett Hall to the construct-tion of tne dining hall extension and the new dormitory, it is quite obvious that the college is growing rapidly. With an increase in the physical plant of a school comes an automatic increase in the student body—a student body which becomes more and more selective each year. And with this increase in students comes a growing awareness of the necessity to raise standards and broaden subject content in all courses. This is a responsibility shared equally by administration. faculty, and students. A college must change in many ways to meet the challenge of a larger and more selective student body. This book proposes to show how Radford College is meeting this challenge.
